Westport Country Playhouse will reunite audience favorites---playwright Alan Ayckbourn and director John Tillinger---and an ensemble of popular actors from prior Ayckbourn works at the Playhouse---in the comedy, 'Bedroom Farce,' playing August 25 through September 13. 'Bedroom Farce' received five Tony Award nominations, including Best Play, during its 1979 Broadway run.
Westport Country Playhouse to Welcome Playwright A. R. Gurney for Symposium, 7/26

Playwright A. R. Gurney will be guest speaker at Westport Country Playhouse's Sunday Symposium following the Sunday, July 26, 3 p.m. matinee performance of his world premiere comedy "Love & Money." He will be joined by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director, and director of the new Gurney play, co-produced with New York's Signature Theatre. The Playhouse Sunday Symposium program is free and open to the public.

Westport Country Playhouse hosted 'Hirschfeld at the Playhouse,' a one-night-only celebration of the artistry of Al Hirschfeld last night, June 29, with an exhibition of his works and a screening of the documentary about his life and career, 'The Line King: The Al Hirschfeld Story.' The 1996 Academy Award-nominated film, directed and written by Susan W. Dryfoos, was produced by Times History Productions, a division of The New York Times Company. Producers Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel, and Jam Theatricals just announced that Tony nominee JESSICA HECHT (A View From the Bridge, “Breaking Bad,” The Last Night of Ballyhoo) and ADAM KANTOR (The Last Five Years, Next to Normal, Rent) will join the cast of Fiddler on the Roof. Hecht will play the role of Golde and Kantor will play the role of Motel. Further casting will be announced soon.

Westport Country Playhouse will stage the world premiere previews of A. R. Gurney's "Love & Money," a new comedy exploring the trials of class, family, legacy, and race, directed by Mark Lamos, from July 21 through August 8. A co-production with New York's Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre, it will officially open there in late August.

Margot Harley, who co-founded The Acting Company with John Houseman in 1972, will step down as its Producer effective the end of this year. The Acting Company began with the first graduating class of Juilliard's Drama Division, which included Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, David Schramm and David Ogden Stiers. "They were classically trained, superbly talented and had worked together for four years," stated Ms. Harley.
