Bailey, Alex Bond, Christopher Borg, Ron Bopst, J.Stephen Brantley, Marc Castle, Johnathan Cedano, Desmond Dutcher, Rick Hinkson, Oliver Houser, Robert Locke, Nick Mathews, Jim Nugent, Aaron Tone, Chris Weikel, and Elizabeth Whitney are set for a pay-what-you-can benefit reading of Doric Wilson's THE WEST STREET GANG at ART/NY.

I suppose it's about time someone came up with a name for that genre of plays where a handful of actors each impersonate a varied assortment of characters to tell a sprawling story, i.e., The 39 Steps, The Complete Wrks of Wllm Shkspr (Abridged).  When that jolly day arrives certainly Chris Weikel's hilarious Charles Dickens send-up, Penny Penniworth: A Story of Great Good Fortune, should be regarded as one of its more sparkling examples.

This spoof of Dickens, directed by Mark Finley, is produced on Off-Broadway contract. Performances of this limited engagement will begin September 8 at TADA Theatre.
