TOSOS Presents THE PARADE OR APPROACHING THE END OF A SUMMER Reading Tonight, 8/25

By:

The Robert Chesley/Jane Chambers Playwrights Project
presents a reading of The Parade or Approaching the End of a Summer by Tennessee Williams, directed by Mark Finley and featuring Paul Caiola, Emily Hartford, Irene Longshore
and Jeremy Lawrence. The reading is set for 7:30pm tonight, August 25, 2012.

ART/NY is located at 520 Eighth Avenue, 3rd Floor- Bruce Mitchell Room, New York, NY. Runtime: About 1 hour. Cost: Free!

Completed in 1940 when Williams was 29 years old and revised in the 1960's, this newly rediscovered one act is a surprisingly autobiographical play about first love after the author had "finally come thoroughly out of the closet".

The TOSOS Robert Chesley / Jane Chambers Playwrights Project is a forum for playwrights to have their work read to an invited audience. No staging. No Q and A. Just an opportunity to be heard.

It is named to honor Jane Chambers (1937-83) and Robert Chesley (1943-90), arguably two of the most original and impassioned voices to contribute to the canon of GLBT theatre.

TOSOS (“The Other Side of Silence”) is dedicated to preserving the theatrical heritage of the LGBT community through the development of new plays by emerging artists as well as revivals of established works. Our productions honestly explore the unique LGBT experience and cultural sensibilities in a life-affirming and respectful way.

TOSOS was originally formed in 1974 by playwright Doric Wilson. During its five-year existence, this first TOSOS featured new plays and revivals by playwrights from Brendan Behan and Noel Coward to Terrence McNally, Robert Patrick, Martin Sherman, and Lanford Wilson.

Reborn in 2001, the new TOSOS annually stages Off-Off-Broadway productions of new or classic LGBT-themed plays, and develops new works every year through its Chesley / Chambers Playwright and Ethyl Eichelberger Solo Show Projects. For more information, visit www.tososnyc.org.
