Tony Nominee Melissa Errico to Lead Workshop of New Michael Feinstein Musical in London

Leading names from both sides of the Atlantic will come together this April in London to develop a new musical. Tony Award-nominated singer & actress Melissa Errico will star in the workshop of The Gold Room which features original music by five-time Grammy nominee Michael Feinstein and book & lyrics by Walking With Dinosaurs writer Warner Brown. Conceived originally by Brown, The Gold Room explores a night behind closed doors in the life of Woolworth heiress Barbara Hutton.

Michael Feinstein to Return to Feinstein's at the Nikko, 5/18-22

Two-time Emmy and five-time Grammy Award-nominated Michael Feinstein returns to Feinstein's at the Nikko with a special celebration of Academy Award-winning lyricists Alan and Marilyn Bergman for five performances only - May 18-22, 2016. Considered one of the premier interpreters of American standards, Feinstein will perform some of the Bergman's greatest songs, including 'The Way We Were,' 'Nice N' Easy,' 'A Piece of Sky,' 'How Do You Keep the Music Playing,' among others. Alan Bergman will join Feinstein onstage nightly through the engagement. The performance schedule is as follows: Wednesday, May 18 at 7 p.m.; Thursday, May 19 at 8 p.m.; Friday, May 20 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, May 21 at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, May 22 at 3 p.m. Tickets range in price from $80-$95 and are available now by calling 866.663.1063 or visiting www.ticketweb.com.

The Puppini Sisters to Play Second Bay Area Cabaret Show

In addition, at 2 pm on Saturday, April 16 at the Fairmont's Laurel Court Restaurant, Bay Area Cabaret will host a High Tea/High Fashion event celebrating the panache and style that defines The Puppini Sisters. Vintage attire is encouraged for this event, which will provide an opportunity to welcome the singers to town, hear them sing an a cappella number and see an array of fashions by local vintage fashion enthusiasts.  Reservations for the afternoon tea - $75 ($40 tax deductible) may be made at www.bayareacabaret.org.

Last Sunday, New York's Birdland Jazz Club welcomed the third and fourth shows in Ann Hampton Callaway's This is Cabaret series that is subsequently aired on National Public Radio (check local listings for dates and times). As increased exposure is vital to the health of the art form, one can only applaud its emergence. Callaway's special guests (one in each hour segment) were jazz performer Kurt Elling and cabaret Goddess Marilyn Maye.
