Enda Walsh, playwright of the critically acclaimed The Walworth Farce, premiered his new play, The New Electric Ballroom at St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn last night to a full house. The play premiered at the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, winning the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe First Award. The production is brought to St. Ann's by the Irish theatre company Druid Ireland and is directed by Edna Walsh. It runs at St. Ann's Warehouse through November 22nd.

THE WALWORTH FARCE was written by Enda Walsh, one of Ireland's hottest young playwrights, and is a commission of the renowned Druid Theater Company. Atlantic Theater Company and Druid are proud to announce a second extension of Martin McDonagh's hit dark comedy THE CRIPPLE OF INISHMAAN, which will now play through Sunday, March 15th, 2009 Off Broadway at Atlantic's Linda Gross Theater (336 West 20th Street).
The limited engagement originally scheduled through February 1, 2009, began previews on December 9 before opening to unanimous critical acclaim on Sunday, December 21, 2008. It was first extended four weeks through March 1, 2009.

Michael Esper Nominated for Irish Times Theatre Award

Michael Esper, who will be featured in Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming production of The Four of Us, has been nominated for an Irish Times/ESB Irish Theatre Award in the category of Best Supporting Actor for his work in the Druid Theatre Company's production of Long Day's Journey Into Night. The winners of the Irish Times/ESB Irish Theatre Awards will be announced at an awards ceremony at Dublin's Burlington Hotel at 7:30 PM on Sunday, February 10.
