The Society for Theatre Research has revealed the judges for the Theatre Book Prize 2021.

The Strand Theater Company proudly continues its 13th consecutive season as the only brick-and-mortar company in Baltimore dedicated exclusively to celebrating womxn's diverse voices and perspectives, with a virtual holiday production of Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon. Directed by the Strand Associate Artistic Director, Erin Riley.

This December Main Street Theater is bringing back the holiday favorites Miss Bennet and The Wickhams: Christmas at Pemberley via live, staged readings on Zoom. Main Street has been offering the Pemberley plays - based on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and written by acclaimed playwright Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon - for the last few seasons.

Beginning Wednesday, Dec. 2, the school's University Productions department will release six productions over the course of three weeks. A new production will be released every Wednesday and Friday through December 18. All performances will be free and available to the public for a limited time.

Signature Theatre has announced today that their 2021-22 Season will feature five works by five Resident Playwrights, including a production by Signature's Residency 1 playwright Anna Deavere Smith, world premiere plays from Residency 5 playwrights Annie Baker, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Samuel D. Hunter & a New York premiere by Dominique Morisseau.

Roundabout Theatre Company has just announced plans to resume production in Fall 2021. On deck is Jeanine Tesori and Tony Kushner’s CAROLINE, OR CHANGE starring Sharon D Clarke, directed by Michael Longhurst, and choreographed by Ann Yee at Studio 54. Additionally, Alice Childress’s TROUBLE IN MIND, directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, will debut at the American Airlines Theatre.

Theater J Artistic Director Adam Immerwahr and Managing Director Jojo Ruf have announced the winners of two new play prizes: Joshua Harmon wins the Theater J Trish Vradenburg Jewish Play Prize for Prayer for the French Republic and Nicole Cox wins the Theater J Patty Abramson Jewish Play Prize for Abomination.

Fahrenheit Books and author Jason J. Marchi have announced the upcoming release of the new sci-fi fantasy short story collection, Venus Remembered by Marchi and Ray Bradbury. The book will be available on November 30, 2020 for the 100th anniversary year of the birth of Ray Bradbury.

MISS BENNET: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY is a cheery Jane Austen tribute piece. It features the beloved characters from the famed novel Pride and Prejudice in an all new holiday story. Patrons can see Lizzie, Mary, Lydia, Jane, and of course, Mr. Darcy. Mrs. Darcy plays hostess to her sisters and some other intriguing characters during Christmas.

The League of Professional Theatre Women will bestow the 2020 LPTW Rachel Crothers Leadership Award to multi-award-winning actress, author, and activist, Tonya Pinkins. The award will be presented on Monday, December 7 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm on Zoom.
