The book by Marcy Heisler, loosely based upon the tales of Rudyard Kipling, is a heartwarming celebration of survival and friendship.

The Fred Ebb Foundation (Mitchell Bernard, Trustee) in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will present the fifth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich. The award, named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb, will be presented by Eric Schaeffer of the Signature Theatre on Monday, November 30th from 6-8pm at a by-invitation-only ceremony in the Penthouse Lobby of The American Airlines Theater.

Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich, the acclaimed songwriting duo, make an exciting studio recording debut with the release of Marcy & Zina: The Album on November 3, 2009 from Yellow Sound Label. Best known for their romantic comedy songs, hit musicals and sold out concerts, Marcy and Zina step into the studio with this self-titled album, which offers a definitive collection of their work together.

The celebratory evening was hosted by Rattlestick Benefit co-chairs Sandra Coudert, Lawrence Benenson and Colleen Jones. Guests included many of Rattlestick's distinguished alumni including playwrights Craig Wright, Lucy Thurber, Mando Alvarado and Adam Rapp, directors Lucie Tiberghien, Michael Ray Escamilla and Sam Gold, actors Thomas Sadoski, Deirdre O'Connell, Guy Boyd, Marylouise Burke, Matthew Stadelmann, Jessica Dickey and Bill Bowers, as well as many of the company's friends and longtime supporters.

AVENUE Q, the Tony Award-winning musical that has delighted and surprised theatergoers since it first arrived on Broadway in 2003, had another surprise in store when the musical's producers announced from the stage at the conclusion of the show's final Broadway performance at the John Golden Theatre (252 W. 45 St.) on September 13, 2009 that AVENUE Q will, in fact, move to a new address in the Times Square neighborhood and begin performances on October 9 at New World Stages (340 W. 50 St.). Zina Goldrich and Marcy Heisler's acclaimed musical DEAR EDWINA will return to the DR2 Theater for a limited engagement, according to Telecharge. The production will play December 11 through February 15, 2010.

Josh Young presented the concert Cutting-Edge Composers, A New Generation of Musical Theater Songwriters on Monday, July 27th. Directed by Laura Pietropinto with Music Direction by Julie McBride, Cutting-Edge Composers took place at the West Bank Cafe's Laurie Beechman Theater (407 W. 42nd street).

Celebrated songwriting and performing team Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich will return to Birdland with 'The Marcy & Zina Show', Monday, July 20th, 2009 at 7pm. The duo will be performing songs from their upcoming cd. Also scheduled to appear are Jill Abramovitz, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Mike Croiter, MaryAnn McSweeney, and special guest Clinton Kelly.
