Theatre is one of the most magical and inspirational things from the creation of the classic 'Show Boat' to the modern and groundbreaking 'Hamilton' or 'Dear Evan Hansen', but there are so many other groundbreaking places and people changing the world of theatre. One thing that has defiantly changed in the professional theatre business is not just the incorporation of rap lyrics and computerized graphics, but the opportunities and people promoting more accessible and accepting theatre for all.

In honor of Trans Awareness Week (November 14-20) and in light of the recent election results, Honest Accomplice Theatre (HAT) launches The Trans Literacy Project -- In these videos you can hear trans people speaking to the things they find important for others to know. While a seemingly simple concept, this is one of the first web series about trans people's experiences from the perspective of trans people.

If we can devise stories that change a culture's consciousness, why not a business model? If we can suspend disbelief on stage, why not in our day-to-day lives? If we can transform from role to role, yet still be ourselves, why not from profession to profession, city to city, and goal to goal? If we can make a family out of our tour-mates, why not tour with our family?

Honest Accomplice Theatre is dedicated to creating art for social change and last night premiered the The Trans Literacy Project at a once in a lifetime benefit event on September 19, 2016 at 42 West in New York, NY. Hosted by Susan Blackwell this evening featured the launch of The Trans Literacy Project as well as a celebrity game night.
