The Department of Theater at Brooklyn College is one of New York City's outstanding institutions in the training of theater artists. With the assistance of a generous grant from the Tow Foundation, the Department of Theater, in conjunction with the MFA Playwriting Program, headed by co-coordinators Mac Wellman and Erin Courtney, will present the annual Weasel Festival, hosted by The Public Theater (August 17-24). This festival of new works, previously produced by the playwrights, will feature performances of full length plays written by Kate Dakota Kremer, Rachel Kauder Nalebuff, Jerry Lieblich, and April Ranger all of whom are recent graduates of the MFA Playwrighting Program at Brooklyn College.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces Writer-Director Communications Lab on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 10am-6pm at Studios 353, 353 W. 48th Street, Studio B (basement). Registration is $75 for TRU members ($85 for non-members), $30 for an additional collaborator (writer), and registration for TRU Member observers is $30 ($40 for non-members). Writers must be accepted before purchasing a spot.

The Tank (Meghan Finn and Rosalind Grush, Artistic Directors) will present their third annual Lady Fest, featuring new work by some of the most exciting lady-identified artists in New York City, in celebration of womanhood and the female voice, in all its glory.

Boundless Theatre Company (Maria-Cristina Fuste, Executive Artistic Director) will present a revival of Maria Irene Fornes' The Conduct of Life, directed by Elena Araoz. The production runs from September 7 through September 30 at Teatro Circulo, located at 64 East 4th Street. Opening Night is set for Saturday, September 15. 

Tiffany Mills Company presents the world premiere of Blue Room, an evening-length work that explores connections and boundaries created by various modes of human interaction. Performances are Wednesday-Saturday, September 12-15, at 7pm, at The Flea Theater in Tribeca.

The Tank (Meghan Finn and Rosalind Grush, Artistic Directors) is turning off the lights for DarkFest 2018, a festival and environmental initiative celebrating innovative performances that utilize self-sufficient and alternative energy sources. Artists are using everything from glow-in-the-dark mouth guards to flashlights and more to shed some light on their work

Dixon Place (Ellie Covan, Founder/Artistic Director) presents the world premiere of Timothy DuWhite's Neptune, opening Today, July 13th at 7:30 PM and running for three weeks (July 13, 14, 21, & 28 at 7:30 pm, and July 20 & 27 at 10:00 pm), at Dixon Place (161A Chrystie Street). Advance tickets are $18 general admission, $15 for seniors and students; at the door $21 and $18, respectively. $15 early bird tickets are available until June 20th. The Dixon Place Lounge is open before and after the show, with proceeds directly supporting the organization's artists and mission.

TOSOS presents its upcoming production of Waiting for Giovanni at The Flea Theater. A great American writer at a pivotal moment in his career is the subject of a play by another iconic American author.

The Tank is now accepting applications for LIT Council (Akin Salawu, Founder/Creator; and Beto O'Byrne and Jerome A. Parker, Co-creators) a development intensive for male playwrights of color. During their time with the Council (September 2018 through April 2019), writers will hone a play guided by the Bechdel Test to ensure gender equity in storytelling. The program will culminate in a reading workshop of each participant's play, hosted at The Tank (312 West 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenue). In order to further promote collaboration and communication between genders, each play will be attached to a female director of color, chosen from a group of professionals and mentors, who will be active presences throughout the process.

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and Joe's Pub at The Public join forces once again for the Kimmel Center Theater Residency. Under the tutelage of Jay Wahl, Producing Artistic Director of the Kimmel Center, and Shanta Thake, Director of Joe's Pub, the program serves as an incubator for artists and their collaborators to create and develop music and theater projects. The program will be held in the Kimmel Center's SEI Innovation Studio (300 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA) from June 18-30 with Public Readings, free and open to the public, on June 29 and 30. Readings will be followed by Q&A sessions with the artists.

The festival will feature new shows by Jessie Field, Kev Berry, Matthew Mirliani, Marjorie Conn, Julien Zotique, Julie Moore & Ania Upstill, and Rodrigo Nogueira. Tickets ($0-$15) may be purchased in advance at www.thetanknyc.org.

LAUNDRYFEST will make its world premiere at The Soap Box, 110 Saratoga Ave, Brooklyn NY 11233. The show will be comprised of site specific and site responsive pieces in an actual laundromat. The festival, produced by The Motor Company (Lillian Meredith, Artistic Director; Jessica Schmidt, Producing Director), will feature new short plays and musicals by Sean Pollock, Billy Recce, Ben Holbrook and Cherry Lou Sy. Directors include NJ Agwuna, David Kahawaii, Phoebe Padget, and Lillian Meredith. The festival is co-curated and co-produced by Sean Pollock. The performance schedule is Today, June 8th, Saturday June 9th, Today, June 15th, and Saturday June 16th at 9:00PM; Sunday June 10th and Sunday June 17th at 7:00PM. Admission is free of charge to the public.
