Broadway Grand Rapids is pleased to announce that ANASTASIA will host a digital ticket lottery during the upcoming Grand Rapids engagement from June 25-30, offering fans the chance to purchase a limited number of $25 tickets available per performance.

It is entirely appropriate in this era of rising anti-immigrant feelings, the re-emergence of the White Supremacy movement, increased anti-Semitism, and having a President who believes in nationalism and Eugenics, that Cain Park revisit the historical foundations of this country via the musical 'Ragtime.'

Broadway Dreams kicks off Unplugged, the 2019 Summer Intensive Tour in Atlanta, GA, followed by five U.S. cities, Calgary, Canada and Europa Park in Rust, Germany. In each location, Broadway Dreams will present an incredible roster of top Broadway directors, performers, and industry insiders who will offer highly personalized musical theater training through week-long intensive workshops for students of all ages, skill levels, and socio-economic backgrounds. At week's end, students will perform alongside their Broadway idols in a Broadway style revue open to the public.

Even if the name Alan Menken is not immediately familiar to all listeners, they will surely recognize some of his work among modern classics they already know well. The Thistle Rose Players and Young Artists have joined artistic forces to feature music from many of Menken's works including Little Shop of Horrors, Sister Act: the Musical, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, A Christmas Carol, Hercules, Tangled, Pocahontas and The Little Mermaid. Chance Theater, Anaheim's official resident theater company, is delighted to produce the award-winning musical Ragtime: The Musical. Based on the novel Ragtime by E. L. Doctorow, Ragtime: The Musical is written by Terrence McNally, and composed by Stephen Flaherty with lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. Ragtime: The Musical will preview from June 28th through July 5th; regular performances will begin July 6th and continue through July 28th on the Cripe Stage at the Bette Aitken theater arts Center.

The Lillys - in partnership with a broad coalition of theater artists - is pleased to announce 3Views on Theater, a new online journal aimed to expand and deepen theater journalism, writing in many voices about our community. 3Views will generate original content in three categories: Reviews, Interviews, and Purviews (articles submitted by theater artists including responses to reviews, original reviews, opinion pieces, and features).

The McLean Community Players return to the Alden Theatre with the musical Seussical, which opens July 12, 2019, and runs weekends through July 28. Seussical brings together many beloved Dr. Seuss characters, including the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Maizie La Bird, the Grinch, JoJo and the Whos. The Cat narrates the story - pulled from more than a dozen Dr. Seuss books - of Horton's adventures while protecting The Whos. The characters travel everywhere from the Jungle of Nool to Whoville, the Circus McGurkus, and other far off destinations.

Welcome to Sunpocalypse.  So far, this Atlanta summer is 100-in-the-shade.  Basically, we're all human-sized Marios running from the evil sun and hoping for a brief respite via some magical pipe that takes you to a cool underground cavern where there's lots of unprotected gold.  Luckily, our favorite Atlanta stages have offered up a lot of great summer theatre, so at least we have something cool to look forward to.   

In 1975 E. L. Doctorow wrote an epic novel that encompassed racism, immigration, feminism, the unequal distribution of wealth, and the hope of 'The American Dream.' Terrence McNally took that story to the stage with music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. Omaha Community Playhouse reprises that monumental musical from its own memorable run 13 years ago on its stage.
