Directed by James Vasquez at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre, In the Heights opens on Sept. 21 and runs through Oct. 20. El Teatro de la Danza Guillermina Bravo cumple medio siglo como icono de la expresión dancística contemporánea

El Teatro de la Danza Guillermina Bravo celebrará 50 años de vida. Su inauguración, el 19 de septiembre de 1969 con la obra Zaratustra, contó con un elenco estelar dirigido por el controvertido Alejandro Jodorowsky. Inicialmente fue un espacio de preparación para los alumnos de la Academia de la Danza Mexicana, que con el paso de los años se convirtió en el escenario dancístico más importante del país y referente del género contemporáneo. 

Dance Now Announces Lineup For 2019 Festival Encore, September 26

DANCE NOW announces the lineup for the 2019 Festival ENCORE! The one-night-only performance will feature the 10 choreographers/companies selected by the DANCE NOW producers for having most successfully met the 2019 DANCE NOW Challenge: to create a clear and complete artistic statement in five minutes or less for the specifics of the stage at Joe's Pub. This year's Challenge winner is Nicole Vaughan-Diaz. As the Challenge winner, Vaughan-Diaz will receive a $1,500 stipend and a weeklong creative residency at DANCE NOW Silo on Kirkland Farm in Bucks County, PA. The ENCORE! program will be hosted by Deborah Lohse (aka TruDee).

Yale Rep Presents the World Premiere of GIRLS

Yale Repertory Theatre presents the world premiere of GIRLS, after The Bacchae by Euripides, by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, with choreography by Raja Feather Kelley, directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, October 4a?"26, 2019, at the University Theatre (222 York Street). Opening Night is Thursday, October 10.

A 120 años del natalicio de Rufino Tamayo se reabrirá la Sala Tamayo y serán inauguradas dos exposiciones con su legado

La Secretaría de Cultura, a través del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBAL), celebran la obra de Rufino Tamayo a 120 años de su natalicio con la reapertura de la Sala Tamayo en el museo que lleva el nombre del pintor, y dos muestras que reúnen un conjunto de piezas del artista pertenecientes a la colección, las cuales dan cuenta del interés de Rufino Tamayo por la conservación, estudio y exhibición de su obra.

Trilogía de creadoras compartirán el escenario del Palacio de Bellas Artes para presentar Diálogos coreográficos contemporáneos

La función comenzará con Cecilia Appleton y su compañía Contradanza, que interpretará la piezaCamas con historias, creada a partir de las diferentes apreciaciones que la autora tiene respecto a la vida íntima de los individuos: los diversos relatos amorosos de las parejas, el insomnio, la pesadilla, los deseos, el juego erótico, los sueños. El público será curioso observador de los episodios que transcurren en este singular espacio. Diálogos coreográficos contemporáneos se presenta el martes 13 de agosto, a las 20:00 horas, en el marco del ciclo Estados en movimiento. Temporada de Danza 2019 en el Palacio de Bellas Artes.

Theater for the New City Presents THE FATHER By August Strindberg, Translated By Robert Greer

From August 25 to September 2, Theater for the New City's Dream Up Festival will present the world premiere of a new translation by Robert Greer of August Strindberg's 'The Father,' directed by Mr. Greer and performed by an ensemble of actors from August Strindberg Rep, who developed the piece in a workshop production last November at Gene Frankel Theatre.

The production will open on August 16th at the LATEA Theater at the Clemente.
