Bay Area Cabaret welcomes celebrated vocalist Catherine Russell in her Venetian Room debut on Sunday, March 24 at 5 p.m. Ms. Russell will perform selections from her acclaimed show, Harlem on My Mind for which her recording won a 2016 Grammy Nomination for Best Jazz Vocal Album. For the first time before a San Francisco audience, Ms. Russell will also perform songs from her highly anticipated March '19 release Alone Together ("Errand Girl for Rhythm", "He May be your Dog, but he's Wearing my Collar", "Is You or is You Ain't my Baby").

Added to the lineup are four-time GRAMMY® winner Yolanda Adams, who will perform and honor Tony Agnello and Richard Factor, GRAMMY winner Gustavo Dudamel who will present to John Williams; violinist Anne Akiko Meyers, who will perform in tribute to Williams; and members of The Meters, including Joseph '?Zigaboo' Modeliste, Cyril Neville, Leo Nocentelli, and George Porter Jr. This year's Lifetime Achievement Award honorees are Hal Blaine, Neil Diamond, Emmylou Harris, Louis Jordan, The Meters, Queen, and Tina Turner. Hot Jazz and Fabulous Food Featured At Bickford Summer JazzFest

The Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum presents Danny Bacher and his All-Star Band in concert on Thursday, July 12, as part of the popular Summer JazzFest. The show, "Accentuate the Positive," draws on tunes from his soon-to-be-released "Still Happy" CD as well as his exciting salute to Louis Armstrong, Louis Jordan and Louis Prima from his best-selling debut CD. Danny will also premiere several new arrangements including a tribute to the great Johnny Mercer. The All-Stars will feature Harry Allen on tenor sax, Charlie Caranicas on trumpet, Allen Farnham on piano, Bill Moring on bass, and Alvester Garnett on drums. The food truck picnic begins at 5:30 and the concert at 7:30.

The Recording Academy will honor its 2018 Special Merit Awards recipients with 'GRAMMY Salute To Music Legends®,' an awards ceremony and live tribute concert on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. This year's Lifetime Achievement Award honorees are Hal Blaine, Neil Diamond, Emmylou Harris, Louis Jordan, the Meters, Queen, and Tina Turner. Additional Special Merit Awards honorees to be celebrated include Bill Graham, Seymour Stein, and John Williams, who are this year's Trustees Award honorees, and Tony Agnello and Richard Factor, who are the Technical GRAMMY Award recipients. Also being honored is Melissa Salguero, this year's recipient of the Music Educator Award. Led by GRAMMY®-nominated industry icon Greg Phillinganes as musical director, the tribute concert will feature rare performances by honorees and never-seen renditions by those they've inspired. Currently scheduled to appear are eight-time GRAMMY winner Herb Alpert, who will honor Blaine; past GRAMMY nominee Micky Dolenz, who will be honoring Diamond; GRAMMY winner Sammy Hagar, who will pay tribute to Graham; 13-time GRAMMY winner and Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Harris; past GRAMMY nominee Ledisi, who will salute Jordan; and three-time GRAMMY winner Trisha Yearwood, who will pay tribute to Harris. Presenters for the evening include actress Angela Bassett and GRAMMY winner Henry Rollins. Additional performers and presenters will be announced shortly. SummerJazzFest Season Announced At The Bickford Theatre

Music and food always seem perfect together so for Bickford Summer JazzFest the theatre will combine great jazz with some of the region's best food trucks on-site before each concert. 'Beware.Brother.Beware' Five Guys Named Moe is in Jacksonville! The Tony Nominated show based on music by Louis Jordan follows Nomax, played by Jereme Raickett, who has stumbled upon hard times. Suddenly, five guys named Moe appear to show him the error of his ways. The live music, the talent, the humor made this show such a great experience, not to mention the numerous moments of interaction between the actors and the audience.

Saxophonist Louis Jordan created a new slant on jazz in the 1940's that paved the way for rock and roll in the 1950s. Nominated for a 1992 Best Musical Tony® Award and winner of the 1991 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Entertainment, Five Guys Named Moe brings Jordan's music to life through the eyes of main character, Nomax. Nomax, whose girlfriend has left him and who is without money, finds Big Moe, Four-Eyed Moe, Eat Moe, No Moe, and Little Moe emerging from his radio to comfort him. The result as two hours of lively, funky music that the LA Times called, "one of the more entertaining experiences available to humanity." Five Guys Named Moe opens April 4, 2018 at the Alhambra Theatre & Dining and runs through May 6.
