The Academy of Country Music announced today the nominees for the 54TH ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS, Country Music's Party of the Year®, honoring country music's superstars and hottest emerging talent. Iconic entertainer and sixteen-time ACM Award® winner Reba McEntire will return to host LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 8:00 PM ET/PT on the CBS Television Network.

The Warner Theatre will welcome the GRAMMY-Award winning band, INDIGO GIRLS, to the Main Stage on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 8 PM. Opening the show is special guest Amythyst Kiah. Twenty years after they began releasing records as the Indigo Girls, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers have politely declined the opportunity to slow down with age. With a legacy of releases and countless U.S. and international tours behind them, they have forged their own way in the music business. Selling over 14 million records, they are still going strong. Amy and Emily are the only duo with top 40 titles on the Billboard 200 in the '80s, '90s, '00s and '10s. Due to audience demand, Florida Studio Theatre (FST) announces the second extension of Guitar Girls, which honors some of the greatest female singer-songwriters from the past century, is now playing through April 14. With energetic performances and featuring songs from music legends like Janis Joplin and June Carter-Cash, audiences have called the production "Exceptional," "Fabulous," and "The best show I've ever seen here [at FST] or anywhere."

Move over Thelma and Louise! The Maine premiere of Honky Tonk Laundry, a boot-scootin', musical jukebox-treat hits all the right notes at the Bangor Opera House from January 31 - February 24.

Guitar Girls At FST Pays Lovely Tribute To Famous Female Guitar Singers & Strummers

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) proudly presents Guitar Girls, a tribute to some of the greatest female singer-songwriters of the past century. Featuring such hits as "Coal Miner's Daughter," "Jolene," "Big Yellow Taxi," and "I Will Always Love You," this FST original music revue follows the careers, personal journeys, and impact of female music icons from Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton to Joni Mitchell and the Dixie Chicks.

Network Entertainment and Burt Sugarman will make a documentary about the musical variety television series “The Midnight Special,” according to Variety.

In a year of celebrating the achievements of women in country music, CMT today announced that Loretta Lynn will be honored with the “Artist of a Lifetime” award presented by Ram Trucks at this year's all-female “CMT Artists of the Year” event premiering live Wednesday, October 17 at 8:00 PM ET/PT. Academy Award winner and “Coal Miner's Daughter” actress Sissy Spacek will bestow the award to Lynn, who joins previous recipients of the honor including Shania Twain (2016), Kenny Rogers (2015), and Merle Haggard (2014).

The acoustic version of Jade Bird's latest single “Uh Huh” is debuting today. The song is receiving early critical praise—Rolling Stone hails, “Bird hearkens back to golden age alt-rock heroes like Alanis and Courtney Love. But it's the traces of Loretta Lynn-style down-home feminism that put 'Uh Huh' over the top,” while Harper's Bazaar furthers, “The gritty, electric track shows a rougher, louder side to the guitar-wielding 20-year-old musician…”

After kicking off the second leg of her North American Ingénue Redux tour in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, k.d. lang announced today that her concert at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, TX on Friday, September 21 at 8PM will be filmed for Landmarks Live In Concert as a part of PBS's Great Performances Series. Landmarks Live In Concert is hosted by Chad Smith and produced by City Drive Films.

Coyote StageWorks, the Coachella Valley based award-winning Actors' Equity professional theater company, announced that its Tenth Anniversary season will include productions of three highly entertaining stage plays, presented at the Palm Springs Art Museum's Annenberg Theater, an increase of the popular free Play Dates Reader's Series, and the debut of the Palm Springs Young Playwright's Festival.

Anna St. Louis, the Kansas City-bred, LA-based songwriter, released 'The Bells,' the second single from her forthcoming debut album today. 'The Bells' features Kevin Morby on percussion and Kyle Thomas of King Tuff on bass and organ. Stereogum premiered the track today, saying, 'St. Louis' voice is buffeted by prickling guitars and a dusty saunter that make the whole song sound like it came straight out of a spaghetti western.'

The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival (HSDFF), presented by Mountain Valley Spring Water, announced today that HILLBILLY (d. Ashley York& Sally Rubin) will open the 27th annual festival in Hot Springs, Arkansas. HSDFF, the longest running all documentary film festival in North America, will celebrate its 27th season on October 19th-27th.

Legacy Recordings (a division of Sony Music Entertainment) will release Wouldn't It Be Great, the new studio album from American music icon Loretta Lynn, on Friday, September 28.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced the selection of four Honorees who will receive the 2018 Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime artistic achievements, and a special Honors distinction for a work of art and its co-creators. Recipients to be honored at the 41st annual national celebration of the arts are: singer and actress Cher, composer and pianist Philip Glass, Country music entertainer Reba McEntire, and jazz saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter. This year, the co-creators of Hamilton-writer and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda, director Thomas Kail, choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler, and music director Alex Lacamoire-will receive a unique Kennedy Center Honors as trailblazing creators of a transformative work that defies category.

Add in some classic and contemporary country music and you have the story behind the story of the musical Honky Tonk Laundry opening July 21 at The Show Palace Dinner Theatre. Millicent Hunnicut and Bridgette Karl star respectively as Lana Mae Hopkins, owner of the Wishy Washy Washateria and employee, Katie Lane Murphy. Both Millicent and Bridgette performed together at Show Palace in The Great American Trailer Park under the talented direction of Matthew Belopavlovich. Just like the characters they play, the actresses bonded and when an opportunity arose to perform the two-women show with Matthew as the director, the two jumped at the chance.
