The Guthrie Theater today announced casting for William Shakespeare’s The Tempest, directed by former Artistic Director Joe Dowling, who returns to direct at the Guthrie for the first time since his tenure with the organization ended in 2015.

Added to the program will be the premiere of Posin's 'Postlude,' conceived when, according to Posin, 'the company gathered together to restage an earlier work, and late-stage pandemic ghosts came to haunt us in the Gene Frankel Theatre.'

Company member Daniel White will perform Touch Me by Gerald Arpino. Company members Claire Mazza and Alejandro Ulloa will present their duet Through You, and Posin will present an excerpt from her latest work Triple Sextet to Steve Reich's Pulitzer Prize-winning Double Sextet.

Paul Foster, innovative playwright, founding member and first Board President of the internationally renowned La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, died peacefully at home in New York City on Friday, March 5th.  He was 89.

The Guthrie Theater (Joseph Haj, artistic director) today announced SITI Company's cast and creative team for the riveting ancient tale The Bacchae, written by Euripides, translated by Aaron Poochigian and directed by celebrated SITI Company co-founder Anne Bogart. Today's subject, Allen Lee Hughes, is currently living his theater life as lighting designer for Arthur Miller's The Price - his 70thproduction at Arena Stage. The Guthrie Theater today announced it has been awarded a $1 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to underwrite a groundbreaking initiative for the theater's entire ninth floor, home to the 200-seat Dowling Studio, the Citizens of Minnesota Overlook - a signature feature of the lobby known as the 'amber box' - and a unique retractable wall that unifies the performance space with its lobby.
