The stars came out on Wednesday, July 17 to see MIMI HINES as she celebrated her 80th birthday with a special, one-night-only concert at Broadway's nightclub, 54 Below. Among those in attendance were 'Late Show with David Letterman' bandleader PAUL SHAFFER, from TV's 'The Nanny' and 'Happily Divorced' start FRAN DRESCHER, and Broadway favorite LEE ROY REAMS (The Producers, 42nd Street, Beauty and the Beast) and Tony Award winners DONNA McKECHNIE (A Chorus Line, Company) , FAITH PRINCE (Annie, Guys and Dolls) and LILIANE MONTEVECCHI (Nine). 'I'm an everything dancer'. I sat on the floor of the dance studio and listened to a ballet girl tell me to my face that she, if she chose to, could go out and land herself a Broadway show, as "she is an everything dancer. " I told her to go out and do it, because it's that simple. One day you just wake up and say, "I think I will be a Broadway dancer. To say my blood boiled would be an understatement. Now I am not saying this girl wouldn't do it, she definitely has talent, but to say such a flippant comment directly to someone who has had a Broadway show, is not only arrogant, it is delusional.

There are performers out there who say they love the rehearsal period more than they do the performances. I, on the other hand, am the complete opposite.

Dancers Over 40 (DO40) will present its third song and dance concert entitled DO40 CARES: The Story of our Lives to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Dance for PD (Parkinson's Disease) tonight April 22, 2013. Carol Lawrence hosts, with special guest performers Liliane Montevecchi (NINE, GRAND HOTEL) and Tony Sheldon (PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT). A reunion of the Ladies of SWEET CHARITY follows up last year's reunion of the Ladies of CHICAGO.

Coming up this week, 54 BELOW, the performance venue located just below the legendary Studio 54 at 254 West 54th Street, presents some of the brightest stars from Broadway, cabaret, jazz and beyond. This week will feature Broadway's own Liliane Montevecchi, rising star Adam Gwon, Barbara Carroll with Ken Peplowski for the WBGO Jazz Series, award-winning performer Linda Eder, Broadway star Telly Leung and actress, producer and singer Rita Wilson.

The Actor's Fund Benefit was held at The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 West 42nd Street. Today we are talking to a versatile performer first known to the world at large through her iconic early-career movie theme recordings - singing the Oscar-winning 'The Morning After' from THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE, as well as the classic themes from THE TOWERING INFERNO, SUPERMAN and musical material and a memorable musical moment in AIRPLANE!; in addition to her many full-length studio albums later in life - who then emerged as a compelling theatrical performer with a string of roles on Broadway, Off Broadway and in regional theater - a replacement star of NINE, as well as THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, as well as original cast member of 1989's THE 3 PENNY OPERA, 1984's premire production of BROWNSTONE, and, most recently, a Broadway featured cast member in LITTLE WOMEN - the radiant and vocally resplendent Maureen McGovern. Looking back on her remarkable career and taking us on the journey from Hollywood to Broadway and beyond, McGovern reflects on some famous co-stars and her side of the riveting productions she participated in both onstage and onscreen, as well as opens up about some of her favorite recordings and composers to date insofar as her recording career is concerned, to say nothing of her proud position as the so-deemed self-confessed 'Disaster Theme Queen'. We also outline her cabaret work over the years, in anticipation of McGovern's week of shows at 54 Below, titled HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS, beginning December 18 and running through December 23, where she will be sharing some of her favorite seasonal songs, new and old, as well as reviving some of her show-stopping standards and iconic movie themes and perhaps a surprise or two, too. Additionally, we touch upon her bio-musical, CARRY IT ON, her new women writer retrospective concert show and much, much more!
