The Boston arm of Parent Artist Advocacy League for the Performing Arts (PAAL) has planned a welcoming social potluck on Sunday, March 4th, as well as an upcoming calendar of events for all parent theatre artists in the area that include creative and administrative in freelance or employed positions and their families. As part of a national effort to create community and develop supportive relationships for parents in the theatre, PAAL Co-Chief representatives Tareena Wimbish and Lila Rose Kaplan extend the invitation to the potluck as the beginning of a supportive and resourceful initiative for parent theatre artists:

Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) is proud to present the world premiere of Lost Laughs: The Slapstick Tragedy of Fatty Arbuckle, written by Andy Bayiates and Aaron Muñoz, directed by Nathan Keepers, with performances February 14 - March 11, 2018, at the Nancy L. Donahue Theatre located at 50 East Merrimack Street in historic downtown Lowell. In addition, MRT is hosting a panel discussion on the historical context of Lost Laughs titled "Women's Rights, Prohibition, and the Fall of Fatty," on Thursday, March 1, immediately after the 7:30 pm show (details below).

The Huntington Theatre Company's 2018 Breaking Ground festival of new plays will be held February 9 11, 2018 at the Huntington's home for new work, the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA. The festival is a vital part of the Huntington's new play development efforts and highlights the work of locally-based Huntington Playwriting Fellows and national writers in partnership with the Huntington. Over the last decade, Breaking Ground plays have gone on to appear at the Huntington as well as theatres in Boston, across the country, and internationally.

Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) starts off 2018 with the latest in its 39th season: the world premiere production of Vichet Chum's KNYUM. Vichet Chum will make both his playwrighting and acting debut at MRT with his brand new, one-man play following the story of Guy, a hotel night clerk who spends the quiet hours of the night shift studying Khmer, the language of his family's home of Cambodia, in preparation for his first visit to the country his parents fled from decades before. Guy stumbles awkwardly towards fluency to awaken to parts of his heritage, both beautiful and excruciating, which shine through in his wildly luminous dreams.

MRT Raises Record Amount for Education at Auction

Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) raised $100,398 at the 2017 Set the Stage Celebration, for its education programs Student Matinees and Young Company. It is the most the 38-year-old theatre company has ever raised for its education offerings.

Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) is preparing for its Set the Stage Celebration, the annual fundraiser which provides vital support to its education programming. In addition to live and silent auctions, cocktails, seated dinner, and live music, the evening will honor MRT's invaluable community partners UMass Lowell and Middlesex Community College, as well as Cambridge-based playwright Lila Rose Kaplan.
