Fuel has announced its programme of work for autumn 2023. Fuel favourite Inua Ellams has three projects including a special edition of his much loved night-time cultural walking tour through an urban space The Midnight Run, this time celebrating the revival of the City of London’s famous ancient Batholomew Fair. Director and CEO of Fuel, Kate McGrath has announced the company's first shows for 2023. A UK tour of Hannah Lavery's new play Protest directed by Natalie Ibu will begin performances at Northern Stage in May followed by dates in Scotland and England. 

Kate McGrath, Director of Fuel has today announced a programme of work for 2022 that encompasses a commitment to work for children and young people as well as work that investigates urgent global questions that face us all. Following the launch of Fuel Digital, 2022 continues this work with more groundbreaking digital projects.

Featuring a range of artforms and practitioners, the programme represents the culmination of months of planning and preparation. Alongside the live work, McGrath has announced a permanent addition to the Fuel rosta - Fuel Digital. A place where digital streams of new and existing work are presented through Fuel's own web platform. 

Fuel's first commission for 2020 is Inua Ellams' first work for children: a radical afro-futurist reimagining of the classic French children's story The Little Prince by Saint-Exupéry. Broken down in the Sahara Desert, desperate to repair her plane, a pilot meets an extraordinary Prince. They quickly form a friendship and the pilot re-discovers the power of imagination, the importance of small efforts, and the meaning of friendship. Directed by Femi Elufowoju Jr with design by Miriam Nabarro and music by Cassie Kinoshi, the show will open at Stratford Circus Arts Centre as part of a programme supported by Newham Council to give every year 6 pupil in the borough the opportunity to see a new piece of theatre for free. The Little Prince is a Fuel production in association with English Touring Theatre, co-commissioned by Fuel, Stratford Circus Arts Centre, ASU Gammage, Z-arts, The Albany, Warwick Arts Centre and Future Arts Centres. Supported using public funding by Arts Council England and the Garrick Trust.

Fuel Director, Kate McGrath today confirmed the programme of work for 2019. She said: "Understanding the world we live in seems more complex than ever. Imagining a positive future requires new levels of optimism. Coming together in a theatre is a way to do these things, and have a good night out. Brilliant artists create a space for a temporary community to come together and seek to understand and to imagine. Fuel's job is to identify those living artists and bring their urgent and brave work to life for people to experience. As we approach our 15th birthday, we reflect on what has changed in the world since 2004, where we find ourselves today, and what 2034 might hold for us all. Our 2019 season celebrates our common humanity: how we all connect to the earth and to each other.

Tonight We Fly provides the people of Leeds with an opportunity to meet, talk and share their ideas and fears about society with artists who will present their own work and invite conversation and response in the hope that a better sense of community will emerge.

Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres Robert Hastie today announces that Jenny Livsey is to take over the role of Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Dale Wasserman from the novel by Ken Kesey following the withdrawal of Lucy Black after she suffered an injury on Sunday morning. Javaad Alipoor's production is currently in previews and opens on Tuesday 12 June, playing until 23 June.

As the UK marks the centenary of women's victory in the fight for suffrage, for which hundreds of women were imprisoned, Fuel presents three specially commissioned sound installations exploring different aspects of female incarceration. Working with leading academics on the history of women's imprisonment at the University of Warwick and award-winning sound designer Gareth Fry, whose recent work includes Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on the West End and Broadway, Fuel will present the installations at a week-long exhibition at Tate Modern before touring the UK (dates tbc) and being made available online as a podcast series.

Complicite will stage a reimagined version of A Pacifist's Guide to the War on Cancer, its collaboration with performance artist Bryony Kimmings. Kimmings will lead the company in this reworked production touring the UK before performances in Australia.

Pioneering disabled-led theatre company Graeae has been a proud standard-bearer for protest and disability rights for many years. How do you make a musical about cancer? This latest work from Bryony Kimmings isn't just theatre, but metatheatre. Her voiceovers and the emails published in the programme detail the at times highly personal development process, and a gut punch of a last 15 minutes strip away the comfort of fictional distance. It could be self-indulgent; instead, it becomes an effective method for making us confront that other, bigger question: how do we talk about, prepare for and deal with illness?

Rehearsal images were today released for A Pacifist's Guide to the War on Cancer, a co-production with Complicite Associates. The production is an all-singing, all-dancing examination of life with a cancer diagnosis. This brand new musical confronts the highs and lows of the scariest word we know. With book by Bryony Kimmings and Brian Lobel, music by Tom Parkinson and lyrics by Bryony Kimmings, and directed by Bryony Kimmings, the production receives its London premiere at the Dorfman Theatre on 14 October (press night on 19 October), following its world premiere at HOME Manchester (20-24 September) and a tour to Exeter Northcott Theatre (28 September-2 October).
