Theatre 20 Sets 2015-16 Season

Under the stars on the patio at Vagabondo Italian Ristorante + Lounge in downtown Toronto, Theatre 20 announced its 2015/2016 season. The sold-out event, which included food, drinks, and a first glimpse into the season, also included preview performances from the upcoming season presented by Nathan Carroll, Colleen Dauncey, Lauren Toffan, Kevin Dennis, Nora McLellan, and David Keeley, with musical accompaniment provided byScott Christian and Mark Selby.

Final casting has been announced for BLAME CANADA!, an evening featuring the best in Canadian musical theatre happening at 54 BELOW on Monday, June 15 at 9:30pm. Clyde Alves, who currently stars as Ozzie in the Broadway revival of On The Town, hosts the evening that celebrates work by members of the Canadian Musical Theatre Writers Collective (CMTWC).

The Canadians are back! 54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents BLAME CANADA! Join us for an evening of the best in Canadian musical theatre as we present a concert of songs by members of the Canadian Musical Theatre Writers Collective (CMTWC). This year BLAME CANADA! is going global, with concerts in New York City, Toronto, Vancouver, and London. Founded by Landon Braverman and Joseph Trefler, CMTWC is a new national organization devoted to supporting and promoting the work of Canadian musical theatre writers both at home and abroad.

Kyle Golemba and Adam White have reason to celebrate: the debut of the recording of their all-Canadian musical theatre revue, Making Love in a Canoe. A 'sonnet to Canadian culture', Making Love in a Canoe features the work of 15 Canadian writers including Nancy White, Leslie Arden, and Jonathan Monro. With four never-before-recorded songs, the album promises to introduce even the most avid theatre-goer to the riches Canadian musicals have to offer.

A transfer of this season's production of Possible Worlds to Munich, Germany, a co-production of the haunting musical Floyd Collins and a new conceptual adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet set in a retirement home are among the highlights. Today Artistic Producer Arkady Spivak announced details of the upcoming season for Talk Is Free Theatre (TIFT), which sees the company producing a wide range of new and re-imagined material in Barrie, Ontario and beyond.

Nicky Phillips has a very ambitious new adventure on her hands, having just launched a new company called 'Your Broadway Song' which she plans to expand within both Toronto and NYC. The company designs custom Broadway themed songs for various special occasions, and kicked off with a song written for Canadian legend Colm Wilkinson. BWW spoke to Nicky about how the idea for Your Broadway Song evolved, her feelings on Canadian Musical Theatre and her sources of inspiration.
