Elizabeth Stanley may very well be Betty Comden's biggest fan. Ever. Currently starring as Claire De Loone in ON THE TOWN, Stanley will be taking the Birdland stage tonight in "I Get Carried Away," her solo show in tribute to Comden. Stanley couldn't say enough about how much she truly admires the Broadway lyricist as a person and an artist as she spoke to BroadwayWorld recently. The performances feature Barber's Essay No. 2, Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances, and Shostakovich's Violin Concerto No. 1 with violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg.

Oratorio Society of New York Coming to Carnegie Hall, 5/5

The Oratorio Society of New York is in its 142nd season as the city's standard for grand choral performance, and its tenth with its current music director, Kent Tritle. Celebrating the culmination of their landmark season together and, as it happens, emergence from a frigid and stormy winter, Tritle and the OSNY will present two life-affirming works for their spring concert: the ardent, hopeful Chichester Psalms of Leonard Bernstein, which will be conducted by the OSNY's associate conductor, David Rosenmeyer (also marking his tenth season with the group), and Carl Orff's spirited, bawdy Carmina Burana. Soloists Jennifer Zetlan, soprano; Peter Tantsits, tenor; Takaoki Onishi, baritone, and the Choristers of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine join the OSNY on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at 8:00 pm, at Carnegie Hall.

The Pacific Symphony Presents AN AMERICAN MUSICAL JOURNEY, a Free Concert in Fullerton, 4/26

A brass quintet from Pacific Symphony is heading to Fullerton to perform a free concert titled “An American Musical Journey” in celebration of Music Director Carl St.Clair's 25th anniversary season. Presented in partnership with the North Orange County Community Concerts, the afternoon of music takes place on Sunday, April 26, at 4 p.m. at Fullerton First United Methodist Church (114 N. Pomona Ave. at Commonwealth). “An American Musical Journey” includes favorites by Gershwin, Bernstein and other American music icons. The brass quintet is led by Principal Trombonist Michael Hoffman and includes Symphony musicians Russell Dicey on horn, Tony Ellis and David Wailes on trumpet, and Fred Greene on tuba. For this concert, admission is free with no reserved seating. The church is providing free child care during the concert, and the audience is invited to stay for a reception and chance to meet the performers.
