Crossroads Theatre Welcomes Comedy Play, CHICKEN & BISCUITS

Crossroads Theatre will welcome CHICKEN & BISCUITS, a comedy written by Douglas Lyons and directed by Lynda Gravátt. The hilarious play will celebrate its Opening Night on Wednesday, December 21st, for a limited engagement through Tuesday, December 31, 2022.

A live-streamed memorial service for Lee Kenneth Richardson will be held Sunday, June 14 at 4:00 p.m. (EST). Richardson, who passed away May 24 of natural causes, was a man of many artistic and theatrical talents.

The Theatre Artists Workshop in Norwalk will present a staged reading of the Broadway hit 'God of Carnage' by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton, on November 16 and 17 at 8 p.m. and November 18 at 3 p.m. Theatre Artists Workshop is located at 5 Gregory Boulevard in Norwalk. Reservations are recommended. The box office reservation line is: 203-854-6830. Suggested donation is $25 and will help to support the non-profit organization's future programming.

It will be released today, March 25, 2016.

Mirage Theatre Company is making its La MaMa debut with 'Cedars,' a theatrical adaptation of Native American poetry and prose performed by Native American actors, directed by June Prager. Through the poetic voices of contemporary Native American writers, the play gives a 21st century face to the struggles of indigenous people, depicting their adaptation into modern-day society and celebrating Native American culture and enduring spirit. Participating writers include Arthur Tulee (Yakama), Tiffany Midge (Hunkpapa Sioux), Gail Tremblay (Onondaga/M'kmaq), Deborah A. Miranda (Ohlone-Costanoan Esselen), Alex Jacobs (Akwesasne Mohawk), William Michael Paul (Hunkpapa Sioux), Joseph Bruchac (Abenaki), Martha Brice (Tlingit), Molly McGlennen (Anishinaabe), and Evan Pritchard (M'kmaq). La MaMa will present the work, in association with Mirage Theatre Company, January 22 to February 1 in La MaMa's First Floor Theater, 74A East Fourth Street (East Village).

Philadelphia Young Playwrights is working with students from area high schools and middle schools, some of the region's top professional directors, and casts of students from Temple Theaters to begin the 2013 New Voices Workshops. This series of performances features monologues and plays written by middle school and high school students during the previous school year. These works were first place winners of Young Playwright's 2013 Annual Playwriting Festival. The workshop performances mark the first time the plays are being produced. The monologues were selected from the winning monologues workshopped during the Young Voices Monologue Festival in Spring 2013.
