On Monday, August 7, Birdland was, as always, the place for an enormous variety of musical talent and much excitement. BroadwayWorld has photos from the evening below!

On Sunday evening March 5 The Beverly Bombshells exploded on the LA scene at Rockwell Table and Stage. This newly formed group that consists of Tiffany Dissette, Heather Lundtstedt O'Neill and Leah Sprecher reworks contemporary pop songs with a 40s style and all new arrangements. It's fresh, it's sassy, and its harmony is delightfully unlike anything you have ever heard. Adele's 'Send My Love' or Lady Gaga's 'Million Reasons' sung to the sound and beat of a swing song like 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B'? Yes, siree! These beautiful ladies have a one.of.a.kind approach laden with pizazz and gusto that takes a contemporary song and transports it back to a time when storytelling wasn't storytelling unless it poked fun at men, at seduction, at romance, at love...in both its sound and its meaning!
Troubadour Theatre Company's classless clowns of classical comedy go rogue in their latest adaptation at the Getty Villa. Taking generous liberties with the source material (Plautus's Mostellaria) they reinvent the over-2000-year-old play as HAUNTED HOUSE PARTY, A Roman Comedy in their own unique style. Yes, it's definitely 'a comedy tonight.'
Casting has been announced for the new musicals in development at Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Music Theater Conference later this month. Among the actors premiering new work are Adam Chanler-Berat, Erin Davie, Colin Hanlon, Kevin Mambo, Matt Von Roderick, Christina Sajous, and Remy Zaken.
This Troubie Christmas Show Santa Claus Is Comin' to Motown was first presented at the Falcon in 2004, so seeing it again was like seeing it for the very first time. Who could remember details from 11 years ago? And also, the Troubies are known for adding new jokes and gags consistently. New jokes about Donald Trump or Hilary Clinton in an election year would not have been in the first rendering of this show. I have always attested to the genius of Matt Walker, Beth Kennedy, Lisa Valenzuela and Rick Batalla, whose improv skills surpass any one else's. If I haven't said it outright before, I'm stating it now, they are THE BEST anywhere. And that goes for the entire gang.
Hello magical lovers of the theatre! Oh happy day of dreaming big to you! Last week was yet another glorious well-lived and fun-filled week for us here at Transcendence!
Transcendence Theatre Company, now in its 4th season presenting summer concerts in Sonoma Wine Country, is perhaps best known for 'Broadway Under the Stars,' an award-winning series of Broadway-inspired concerts featuring performers from Los Angeles and New York - artists who come to the Sonoma stage directly from recent Broadway appearances. More than a standard musical revue, each show weaves popular Broadway songs into a spectacular themed performance presented in the open-air 150-year-old Winery Ruins at Jack London State Historic Park.
