Founded in 1980, the JACCC is the largest Asian American cultural center of its kind in the U.S. and is the preeminent presenter of Japanese, Japanese American and Asian American arts. JACCC is home to a number of civic and arts organizations and serves as the cultural and community focal point of Japanese Americans throughout Southern California.
The Broad Stage Announces Expansion of its 2010-11 Season, 4/22

The Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center announced an expanded season of productions, artists, local discoveries, and new film and performance series. The summer pre-season begins on June 17 with the new musical, DADDY LONG LEGS. The official season kicks off October 7- 9, with an opening weekend of performances and events featuring jazz star, Esperanza Spalding; classical cellist, Lynn Harrell; and folk singer, Judy Collins.

Singer and actress Lea Salonga, known for her starring lead role in the musical hit 'Miss Saigon' and for her singing voice as Princess Jasmine in 'Aladdin' and Mulan in 'Mulan,' attended Jersey Boys Sunday, April 18 at the Palazzo Resort-Hotel-Casino. Following the show, Lea went backstage to meet and congratulate the cast on their performance.

According to Variety, the fifth annual A Fine Romance benefit will be presented by the Motion Picture & Television Fund on May 1. The event will be hosted by Hugh Jackman at the Fox Lot and will feature the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Adam Shankman will direct, with musical direction by John Mauceri.

East West Players (EWP), the nation's premier Asian American theatre, will recognize Pixar Films with the EWP Visionary Award on their feature animation film Up. Jordan Nagai, the voice of Russell from the animated film Up, will be recognized with the Breakout Performance Award at East West Players 44th Anniversary Visionary Awards and Silent Auction, which takes place at the Hilton Universal City on Monday, April 19, 2010.

East West Players (EWP), the nation's premier Asian American theatre, happily announces Lea Salonga and Tamlyn Tomita as the Emcees of East West Players 44th Anniversary Visionary Award Dinner & Silent Auction. Also announced for the gala event are performances by Joan Almedilla, Jennifer Paz, and Jenni Selma of EWP's upcoming musical production of ROAD TO SAIGON and vocalist Ethan Le Phong. This year's honorees include previously announced Wenda Fong, Vice President of Alternative Programming for FOX and Mike Shinoda, visual artist and musician for two-time Grammy Award-winning rock band Linkin Park. The gala event will take place at the Hilton Universal City on Monday, April 19, 2010. Proceeds from the event will benefit East West Players' educational and artistic programs.
The Cell's LIMONADE TOUS LES JOURS Extends To May 9th

the cell joins as lead producer with Joie de Théâtrale and The New Voice Project to present the NYC Premiere of 'Limonade Tous les Jours,' a romantic comedy (in english), written by Charles L. Mee, and directed by Diana Basmajian. Due to popular demand, the shows limited-run has been extended at the cell in Chelsea (338 W. 23rd Street, between 8th & 9th Avenues) - and now plays through May 9th.

Repertory Philippines' acclaimed production of Stephen Sondheim's 'Sweeney Todd' earned five PHILSTAGE Awards Friday night (March 26, 2010) in Manila, Philippines taking home acting honors for its lead cast Audie Gemora (Best Male Lead Performance in a Musical), Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo (Best Female Lead Performance in a Musical), Liesl Batucan (Best Female Featured Performance in a Musical), and Marvin Ong (Best Male Featured Performance in a Musical). 'Sweeney Todd's' musical director Gerard Salonga also won the Best Musical Direction award.

Tony winner Lea Salonga visited the set of 'The Wendy Williams Show' last March 15, 2010 to promote her ongoing cabaret series at Café Carlyle, dubbed 'The Journey So Far.' She sang the pop ditty 'Your Song,' which she also performed in her recent year-end concert in Manila.

Tony Award-winning actress Sutton Foster returned to Broadway Artists Alliance to lead a master class in Song Interpretation. Ms. Foster worked one-on-one with each student, interpreting the lyrics and bringing out the best performance in each of them. Her down-to-earth personality and accessibility created a wonderful working environment.
