BWW Interview: Disney on Classic Retrospective - Through the years with Tony Clements

I recently had the opportunity to interview Tony Clements, Creative Director for Harmony Japan, New York. A native of Waterford, Wisconsin, Tony spent much of his early theater years in Milwaukee. He has been with Disney on Classic since 2007 and brings a very special perspective to navigating a career as multi-hyphenate artist.

Westport Country Playhouse stages the lavish, large-cast comedy, "A Flea in Her Ear," newly adapted by David Ives from the original by Georges Feydeau, and directed by Mark Lamos, Westport Country Playhouse artistic director.  Fresh from a sold-out run by Delaware's Resident Ensemble Players (REP), a professional theater located at the University of Delaware, the co-production with the REP runs in Westport July 10 - 28.

Three years ago, this reviewer suggested that it was time to rediscover French theatre with the Westport Country Playhouse's production of David Ives's transplantation of Pierre Corneille's 1643 comedy, The Liar (Le Menteur). Happily, Mark Lamos, artistic director of the WCP, now brings us Ives's adaptation of Georges Feydeau's 1907 farce, A Flea in Her Ear (La puce a l'oreille).

Westport Country Playhouse Presents Sunday Symposium For A FLEA IN HER EAR

Westport Country Playhouse's Sunday Symposium on July 15, following a 3 p.m. performance of the comedy, 'A Flea in Her Ear,' will feature guest speaker Catherine Sheehy, chair of dramaturgy and dramatic criticism at Yale School of Drama and resident dramaturg at Yale Repertory Theatre. The Playhouse Sunday Symposium program is free and open to the public. Sheehy will engage in a conversation about the play with David Kennedy, Playhouse associate artistic director. 

Delaware's REP Presents A FLEA IN HER EAR in Co-production With Westport Country Playhouse

A perfumed letter, a seedy hotel and a pack of wacky characters bring 1907 Paris to Delaware in the Resident Ensemble Players (REP) production A Flea in Her Ear, a new version of Georges Feydeau's farce, written by David Ives, Mar. 1 through Mar. 18, in the Roselle Center for the Arts, Newark, DE. Internationally renowned director, Mark Lamos, returns to the REP to stage the bawdy bedroom comedy.

Queens-based Titan Theatre Company kicked off the first production of its 2017/18 season with the opening of its highly anticipated RICHARD III. The production, which stars Titan Company Member Lloyd Mulvey in the title role will run through October 29th at the Queens Theatre, the borough's premier performing arts venue, located in beautiful Flushing Meadows Park.
