Metallica and San Francisco Symphony's September 6 & 8, 2019 S&M2 concerts were historic on multiple levels:

Following a stellar inaugural year with results including job placement rates exceeding 90%, the Metallica Scholars Initiative has confirmed a second year of its support of community colleges and their career and technical education programs—featuring the expansion of the program from 10 to 15 schools, as well as the addition of matching grants from new partners. 

This past Sunday, newly awarded Kennedy Center Honoree Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT) was celebrated in a special tribute presentation at the 42nd annual Kennedy Center Honors Gala. The tribute included a performance by more than 40 alumni of the New World Symphony, America's Orchestral Academy (NWS), which MTT co-founded 32 years ago as a training ground for the next generation of classical musicians. Conducted by NWS alumnus and Louisville Orchestra Music Director Teddy Abrams, the alumni musicians paid tribute to MTT's wide-ranging artistry, performing a program that celebrated his acclaimed interpretations of modern masters, his advocacy for American music, and his own work as a composer. Joining the orchestra in performance were MTT's longtime friends and collaborators Audra McDonald and Yuja Wang, as well as Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, who recently collaborated with MTT as part of Metallica and San Francisco Symphony's S&M2 concert. Spoken tributes were also given by Mr. Ulrich and actress Debra Winger.

The back-to-back NBA Champion Golden State Warriors and Chase Center, the Warriors new 18,064-seat privately financed sports and entertainment arena in San Francisco's Mission Bay neighborhood, today announced that Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony will re-unite and perform together with special appearance by SFS Musical Director, Michael Tilson Thomas, and conducted by Edwin Outwater as the inaugural event at Chase Center on Friday, September 6, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their Grammy Award-Winning "Symphony and Metallica" (S&M) album. The show will be produced by Live Nation Entertainment and Another Planet Entertainment. Today's announcement was the first during the organization's "Reveal Week" - a week of announcements showcasing the first group of top-tier shows to perform at Chase Center this Fall.

Today, the Music Business Association (Music Biz) has announced the addition of Zane Lowe to the 2019 Music Biz Conference program. The Grammy-nominated producer, DJ, and Global Head of Artist Relations and Host for Apple Music will give a keynote interview on Sunday, May 5th at 5 PM. Music Biz 2019, the music industry's premier business Conference, will take place Sunday, May 5th thru Wednesday, May 8th at the JW Marriott in the heart of downtown Nashville.

Metallica's All Within My Hands Foundation (AWMH) has launched a major workforce education initiative that provides direct support to community colleges to enhance their career and technical education programs. These programs provide skills and services to students who are looking to enter a traditional trade or other applied learning program. Ten colleges from across the country will receive $100,000 to support more than 1,000 students training to enter the American workforce. These students will become the first cohort of Metallica Scholars.

Jack White has unveiled the final pre-release track from his hugely anticipated third solo album, BOARDING HOUSE REACH (Third Man/Columbia). 'Ice Station Zebra' is available digitally worldwide now and was featured as Zane Lowe's World Record on Beats 1 on Apple Music this morning. In addition, Lowe shared a clip from White's upcoming two-part interview on 'It's Electric with Lars Ulrich,' the first part of which is set to premiere on Sunday, March 25 at 12pm PT exclusively on Beats 1. The second part of the interview will air on Sunday, April 1 at 12pm PT.

The Wait is over...Actually, it's back! Nearly three decades after going out of print, Metallica will release a remastered version of The $5.98 EP - Garage Days Re-Revisited on April 13, 2018 as part of their ongoing remasters series via their own Blackened Recordings label.

Metallica's album Hardwired...To Self-Destruct received two Grammy awards nominations this morning in the Best Rock Album category for the heralded, global chart-topping album and Best Rock Song for the song 'Atlas Rise.' Their albums have won a total of nine Grammy Awards with 21 nominations.
