If you've ever wondered about all the incredible artistic people that live in our area, Bay Street Theatre's new 'Own Town' series is the place to be on Thursday afternoons at 4pm. Each week, Bay Street's Artistic Director Murphy Davis chats with some of the most interesting people who live and work in our area, from artists and authors to playwrights and producers.

Victoria Theatre Association and The Human Race Theatre Company announced today that Lanford Wilson's Tally's Folly will be replaced on the 2009-2010 Miami Valley and Good Samaritan Hospitals Broadway Series, with the humorous and witty Moonlight and Magnolias by Ron Huchinson, May 11-23, 2010 in the historic Victoria Theatre.

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director; Ellen Richard, Executive Director) will conclude its 30th Anniversary mainstage season with the New York premiere of VANITIES, a new musical written by Jack Heifner, featuring music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum, directed by Judith Ivey. With musical staging by Dan Knechtges, VANITIES will feature Lauren Kennedy, Sarah Stiles, and Anneliese van der Pol and will begin preview performances on Thursday, July 2. Opening night is Thursday, July 16 at 6:30pm

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director; Ellen Richard, Executive Director) will conclude its 30th Anniversary mainstage season with the New York premiere of VANITIES, a new musical written by Jack Heifner, featuring music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum, directed by Judith Ivey.

Producing Artistic Director Ted Pappas has announced the line-up for Pittsburgh Public Theater's 09/10 season. The six-play subscription series begins October 1, 2009 and runs through June 27, 2010. 'Our audiences will experience a season of infinite variety,' Pappas said. 'Included are Shakespeare's best-loved play, a musical about the greatest jazz singer of all time, and a ferocious tour-de-force starring a great actress. Add to that a British comic masterpiece from a living genius and friend, a Pulitzer Prize-winning romantic comedy by an American treasure, and a sweet surprise as the finale. This season has it all,' he said. In addition, The Public will present two special engagements.

Bay Street Theatre kicks off the month of July with a bang as the legendary Betty Buckley returns for three performances of a new and critically acclaimed show 'Broadway By Request.' The 4th of July weekend fun begins on Friday, July 3 (Ms. Buckley's birthday concert) at 8pm, with additional shows on Saturday, July 4th at 5pm and 7pm. 'Broadway By Request' features songs and behind the scene stories from Buckley's many Broadway hits as requested by the audience.

Two-time Tony Award-winning actress Judith Ivey will portray that great woman of American letters -- letters from readers seeking advice, that is -- when she plays the legendary, trailblazing columnist Ann Landers in David Rambo's play The Lady With All The Answers Off-Broadway this fall, starting performances October 7, 2009 at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street) in New York City. B.J. Jones directs. The production will run through November 29. Opening night is October 14.

Celebrating its 40th Anniversary, The T. Schreiber Studio Company, headed by Artistic Director Terry Schreiber, will present Lanford Wilson's moving and often humorous play, Fifth of July, from May 14th through June 21st, Thursday through Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 3:00 p.m. The play will be open to the press beginning on Friday May 22nd. The play will be presented in The Gloria Maddox Theatre at T. Schreiber Studio at 151 West 26th Street, 7th Floor.

'Hooray for Joey Slotnick!' Director Henry Wishcamper has tapped Chicago native Joey Slotnick for the lead role of the African explorer 'Captain Jeffrey T. Spaulding'-the heightened vaudevillian persona created by Groucho Marx for the 1929 stage and screen original-in Goodman Theatre's season opening musical Animal Crackers, written by George S. Kaufman and Morrie Ryskind, with music and lyrics by Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby.

On Thursday June 18 James McMullan is in the hot seat with Mr. Davis. Mr. McMullan is known as the man behind the ?look of Lincoln Center theatre.? His theatrical posters are renowned and his 1976 New York Magazine cover illustration inspired the imagery for the film Saturday Night Fever. His work has appeared in numerous books?some with his wife Kate McMullan who is a renowned children?s author. Come hear about McMullan?s work, his process, and his passion.

Playwrights Horizons, under the leadership of Artistic Director Tim Sanford and Managing Director Leslie Marcus, proudly announces the sixth and final production of its upcoming 2009/2010 Season, as well as additional casting. The smash hit Off-Broadway musical,' Dames at Sea opens the Saint Michael's Playhouse summer 2009 season Tuesday, June 16, and runs through June 27, starring Broadway musical talent top to bottom. Tickets for the show are discounted 20% through the run of the show if bought as part of a four-play season subscription. Performances of 'Dames' are Tuesday, June 16 through Saturday, June 20, at 8 p.m. each evening and Saturday, June 20, and Saturday, June 27, at 2 p.m., on the stage of the McCarthy Arts Center on the campus of Saint Michael's College.

2009 Tony Award nominee Hallie Foote (Dividing the Estate) will be featured in the cast of THE ORPHANS' HOME CYCLE, the nine-play three part theatrical event by her late father, the Pulitzer Prize and Academy Award winning playwright Horton Foote, which will be co-produced in the 2009-2010 season by Hartford Stage (Michael Wilson, Artistic Director; Michael Stotts, Managing Director) and Signature Theatre Company (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director).

After a 48 year absence, Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will present the first new Broadway production of Bye Bye Birdie as the inaugural production of the new Henry Miller's Theatre (124 West 43rd Street) beginning Thursday, September 10th, 2009 with an official opening on Thursday, October 15th, 2009. This will be a limited engagement through January 10th, 2010.
