Buckley, Ruehl, Brenner, Broderick All Come To Bay Street Theatre This Summer

Bay Street Theatre kicks off the month of July with a bang as the legendary Betty Buckley returns for three performances of a new and critically acclaimed show "Broadway By Request." The 4th of July weekend fun begins on Friday, July 3 (Ms. Buckley's birthday concert) at 8pm, with additional shows on Saturday, July 4th at 5pm and 7pm. "Broadway By Request" features songs and behind the scene stories from Buckley's many Broadway hits as requested by the audience.

Described as "The Voice of Broadway," by New York Magazine, Tony® Award-winner Betty Buckley has become the quintessential leading lady of the American musical theatre through her dazzling performances in Cats, Sunset Boulevard, 1776 and Pippin. Ms. Buckley won a Tony Award for her performance in Cats, a second Tony Award nomination for Triumph of Love, and an Olivier Award nomination in London for her performance in Sunset Boulevard, which she repeated to rave reviews on Broadway. The show also features Sirius Satellite Radio star, comedian Seth Rudetsky-- an expert on ALL things Broadway. Tickets to any of the three performances are $75.

On July 7, the curtain goes up for the American Premiere of DINNER, a wicked satirical comedy by Moira Buffini, directed by David Esbjornson, and featuring Mercedes Ruehl. In this show, which The London Guardian calls "A deliciously bad taste comedy", the playwright reminds us that "revenge is a dish best served cold." However, at this dinner party it is served frozen. DINNER runs from July 7- August 2 ,Tuesdays through Sundays. Tickets are $55-65 and going fast!

On Monday, July 13th the laughs continue as Bay Street Theatre's Comedy Club returns with funny man David Brenner at 8pm. Stand-up comedian, author, and founder and creator of funnydeli.com, Brenner is also recognized as a political pundit who the Hollywood Reporter recently referred to as "edgier and more insightful in his skewering of popular culture than ever before." Brenner, has also completed four HBO Specials, the latest being "David Brenner: Back with a Vengeance", one of HBO's highest rated specials. Comedy Club continues on July 20th at 8pm with 2009 Drama Desk Award Winner Celebrity Autobiography: In Their Own Words, featuring Matthew Broderick, Rachel Dratch, Carson Kressley and more, as they read from fellow celebrities' autobiographies. Also appearing this summer are Jim Breuer, Susie Essman, Mario Cantone, Robert Klein, and Janeane Garofalo with Al Madrigal. Tickets to Comedy Club are $60.

On July 14, Bay Street kicks off yet another exciting new partnership. This time, it's WLIU Radio broadcasting from Bay Street in front of a live audience. The public is invited to attend these broadcasts with WLIU favorites including Bonnie Grice and Brian Cosgrove on Tuesday afternoons at 4pm, July 14, 21, 28, Aug. 18, and 25. In addition to the Tuesday afternoon broadcasts, WLIU will also present a special Live broadcast of Dog Talk on Saturday, August 1st at 11am with Tracie Hockner. Tickets to each broadcast are $20.

The already popular OUR TOWN series continues with Kathleen Marshall, the Tony, Drama Desk, and Laurence Olivier award winning Director and Choreographer, on Thursday, July 16 at 4pm. Her credits read like a who's who of theatrical stunners---Grease, The Pajama Game, Little Shop of Horrors, and Kiss Me, Kate to name a few. The series continues Thursdays at 4pm and future guests include Lanford Wilson, April Gornik, Bob Balaban and more. Tickets $20 for each chat.

On Saturday, July 18th come and join us as we go Sailing Back to The 60's at the 17th annual Summer Gala Benefit Bash, taking place on the Long Wharf in Sag Harbor. The Summer Gala has earned a reputation as "Best of the Best - Event of the Year" (Dan's Papers, 2007 and 2008) and this year's event promises to be no exception. Celebrate the 60's with special guest Lesley Gore (60's hit maker of "It's My Party") plus performances from "Dames at Sea", "Hair" and much more! Festivities at this not-to-be-missed event include cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and a sit-down dinner catered by Sterling Affair, dancing to the sounds of The Denice Given Band and the "Fantasy" Auction which includes artwork, jewelry, tickets to sporting events and Broadway's hottest shows. On Friday, July 24 following the performance of DINNER, Bay Street will present its' first Salon Night, honoring the East End's longstanding love affair with writers. Bay Street Theatre along with ankinrowen productions and HipHamptons.com will present an evening of the spoken word, readings from fresh new voices in the literary and theater world. Join in this free evening and enjoy provocative tales from the front line of life, love, and sex. Writers, including Heather Buchanan, Lucy Boyle and award winning playwright Brooke Berman along with celebrated actors will share works in progress ranging from racy to hilarious to heartbreaking, and the audience will get a sneak peak at a short story by James Frey adapted for the stage.

As July winds down, another new partnership bursts onto the scene as Bay Street @ The Parrish Art Museum kicks off its first performance at 25 Jobs Lane, Southampton in a new 99-seat second stage. In this newly reconceived space with café-style seating, Bay Street will present works in development in an intimate new setting. First up is "M O T H E R H O O D O U T L O U D", a new play by more than 15 American writers. This new work was conceived and produced by Susan R. Rose & Joan Stein, DIRECTED BY Lisa PetersON and runs for just three evenings, July 30 -August 1 at 8pm.

A loose chronological journey of motherhood, Motherhood Out Loud celebrates the very personal, diverse, funny, exciting, touching and altogether extraordinary experiences that boldly expose the unabashed truths that unite us all. From stepmoms to single moms, immigrant moms to grandmothers, and new moms to empty nesters, Motherhood Out Loud reveals with illuminating insight (and humor), the raw emotions and rocky roads we travel in life. Tickets are $40.
