This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Lamentation Variations project- LamVar10: A Festival for New Work. Since its founding in 2007 by Graham Company Artistic Director Janet Eilber, the company has commissioned some of today's most noteworthy choreographers to create new works inspired by Graham's signature solo, Lamentation, originally created in 1930, on dancers of the company. These choreographers have included Lar Lubovitch, Michelle Dorrance, and Doug Varone, among others.

The 14th annual Fall for Dance Festival at New York City Center continued the tradition of offering performances of world premiere commissions for works in diverse dance genres by companies from NYC and around the world.

The following events will all take place at The Tank (at their new home, 312 West 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues).

The Tank will present the first screening in their new Staging Film series today, October 12 at 7pm at their new home at 312 West 36th Street (between 8th and 9th Avenues). The screening will feature the films Domesticity and Over the River and Through the Woods, followed by a talkback with the creators of the films, including playwright Neil Labute and director Leigh Silverman.

THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER, PURCHASE COLLEGE (The PAC) welcome new friends, Jessica Lang Dance, and old, Suzanne Farrell Ballet to dance this year at the center.

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced the complete list of the 2017 award recipients tonight at the 33rd annual Bessie Awards ceremony. Awards were presented in the categories of Outstanding Production, Outstanding Revival, Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Music Composition/Sound Design, and Outstanding Visual Design, with additional awards presented for Lifetime Achievement in Dance and Outstanding Service to the Field of Dance. This Fall will see the aformentioned world premiere in addition to many seasoned favorites like Rob Mathes All performances take place at The PAC, 735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase, NY 10577.

Hot off their New York City Center Fall For Dance debut next month, Kyle Abraham's Abraham.In.Motion will celebrate what is becoming known as its annual 'Homecoming' gala fundraiser, which will be held on Monday, October 16, 2017 at the beautiful Manhattan Penthouse, 80 Fifth Avenue. Broadway star Brenda Braxton will host.

The one-night-only performance will feature the 12 choreographers/companies selected by the DANCE NOW producers for having most successfully met the 2017 DANCE NOW Challenge: to create a clear and complete artistic statement in five minutes or less for the specifics of the stage at Joe's Pub.

The Tank will present the World Premiere of Corinne Donly's Wood Calls Out to Wood, directed by Sarah Hughes at The Tank's new home at 312 West 36th Street. Performances will be October 27-November 12, Thursday through Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 7pm.

The Martha Graham Dance Company announces LamVar10: A Festival for New Work, a multiweek program celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Lamentation Variations, short commissioned works inspired by Martha Graham's iconic solo Lamentation.

Abrons Arts Center will present the world premiere of Caborca's adaptation of Roberto Bola o's ground-breaking novel Distant Star, a harrowing tale of fascism and its aftermath. Running September 14 - October 1, this eerily relevant drama weaves Bola o's memories of life (and death) under Pinochet's American-backed dictatorship into a perverse, seductive noir of urgent political necessity.

The pervasive movement style is so bold and even fearless that you might not spot the intricacy of the choreography until the whole seven-member company dances in perfect unison. Los Angeles Times

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, New York City Center's Principal Dance Company, returns to the theater's stage from November 29th - December 31st, 2017. Artistic Director Robert Battle leads Ailey's 32 extraordinary dancers during this annual five-week engagement, which has become a joyous holiday tradition.
