VIDEO: The Joyce Theater Previews Fall/Winter Season - 'Be Moved All Season Long'

Linda Shelton, Executive Director of The Joyce Theater, announced today the New York City dance organization's programming for its Fall '18 / Winter '19 season. Showcasing extraordinary international and local artists, the upcoming Joyce season promises to offer something spectacular for all dance-lovers.

Highlights of the season include the return of legendary choreographer Twyla Tharp, following her wildly popular 2017 engagement. Tharp will present the New York premiere of her Minimalism and Me program, an evening of Tharp's earliest works including an appearance by Tharp herself. Also premiering on The Joyce stage this season, among many other premieres, will be The Tenant, choreographed by Arthur Pita and starring American Ballet Theatre principal dancer James Whiteside. The Joyce debut of New York-based Jonah Bokaer Choreography with Charles Renfro will kick off its 15th Anniversary season with a program of world premieres accompanied by live music. Andrea Miller's Gallim returns, following the choreographer's Museum of Modern Art residency, with the world premiere of To Create a World. And, the gorgeous gals of Les Ballet Trockadero de Monte Carlopirouette back into our hearts for their biennial three-week holiday romp, a guaranteed delight for all audiences.

Opening the Fall '18 / Winter /19 season will be the NY Quadrille, which had its blockbuster debut in 2016. This three-week engagement, once again conceived, designed, and curated by Lar Lubovitch, features a transformed performance space that allows audiences to view the show from one of four sides. The lineup features performances by five acclaimed choreographers / companies, including Joyce regulars John Jasperse Projects, Kyle Abraham'sA.I.M, and Rashaun Mitchell + Silas Riener, both former Merce Cunningham dancers. The long-awaited return ofDonna Uchizono, and a world premiere by Beth Gill, making her Joyce debut, round-out the program.

Continuing The Joyce's commitment of presenting international companies, Colombia's SANKOFA DANZAFROwill make its Joyce debut with the episodic The City of Others. Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar's Israel-based L-E-V, will perform their acclaimed collaboration, Love Chapter 2. Choreographer and artistic director of Danish Dance Theatre, Pontus Lidberg, has assembled a company of dancers under the name Pontus Lindberg Dance to perform the world premiere of his SIREN. And, the energizing BalletBoyz return with a newly extended duet by Christopher Wheeldon as part of a world premiere double-bill program. The Joyce reprises its popular "Cuba Festival" next season with the beloved Malpaso Dance Company headlining. Flamenco choreographer Irene Rodríguez and the U.S. debut of LOS HIJOS DEL DIRECTOR are also on the bill.

Broadway will be represented in Chelsea with The Lion King choreographer Garth Fagan Dance, presenting a program of favorites and premieres. And, Once on This Island choreographer's company Camille A. Brown & Dancers treats audiences to its brilliant time-traveling work, ink. The American Dance Platform, The Joyce's annual showcase of some of the country's most diverse dance companies, also returns. This year's roster includesStephen Petronio Company, Martha Graham Dance, BalletX, Raphael Xavier, Ephrat Asherie Dance, andRonald K. Brown/EVIDENCE with Arturo O'Farrill & Resist all showcasing their works during the first week of January.
