On August 5 at 7:00 p.m., producer Rick Murray will present one of the most influential figures in contemporary popular culture, rock legend and actress Courtney Love, who will sit down with Kevin Sessums for an intimate evening of conversation and performance.  Love will be joined by her collaborator and friend, composer Todd Almond, with whom she shares a unique artistic alchemy.

Joel Grey recently took part in Curran: Under Construction's 'Groundbreakers with Kevin Sessums' series on Tuesday, March 8 7:00 p.m., where he opened up about his storied life and career, touching upon his many roles including the Emcee in Cabaret, his history at the Curran, his 25+ year marriage and his decision to publicly come out last year at the age of 82. Kevin Sessums, the Curran's Editor-at-Large sat down with award-winning opera star Leah Crocetto for a special evening titled 'Leah Crocetto Talks Opera and Sings Jazz' on Thursday, February 4. Sessums discussed Crocetto's early years in the New York cabaret scene, her rise to fame in the opera world, and her deep connection to the San Francisco Opera. Crocetto, who recently opened the SFO's 2015 season with her electrifying performance in the title role of Luisa Miller and made her Metropolitan Opera debut as Liu in TURANDOT, performed three numbers throughout the evening. Carole Shorenstein Hays announced today that for the next subject of Groundbreakers with Kevin Sessums, the Curran's Editor-at-Large will sit down with award-winning opera star Leah Crocetto, for a special evening titled “Leah Crocetto Talks Opera and Sings Jazz.” Sessums will discuss Crocetto's early years in the New York cabaret scene, her rise to fame in the opera world, and her deep connection to the San Francisco Opera.  Crocetto, who recently opened the SFO's 2015 season with her electrifying performance in the title role of Luisa Miller and made her Metropolitan Opera debut as Liù in Turandot, will perform three numbers throughout the evening.

Carole Shorenstein Hays announced today that author and publishing world legend Kevin Sessums has been named Editor-at-Large of the Curran theatre.  His responsibilities will include managing and overseeing all editorial content for the "Curran: Under Construction" programs, as well as curating and hosting an occasional on-stage series of conversation and performance featuring today's most compelling thought leaders and artists, called Groundbreakers with Kevin Sessums.  

Carole Shorenstein Hays announced today that for the inaugural installment of Groundbreakers, the Curran's Editor-at-Large Kevin Sessums will sit down with Broadway's most notorious commentator, the New York Post's Michael Riedel, to discuss the state of the theater and his new book, Razzle Dazzle: The Battle For Broadway.  This event, taking place on stage at the Curran (445 Geary Street) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19, is free.

Lambda Literary is pleased to announce that John Waters will receive Lambda's Trustee Award for Excellence in Literature an Rita Mae Brown will receive the Pioneer Award at the 27th Annual Lambda Literary Awards ('Lammys'). Waters and Brown will be honored along with the winning authors of 24 separate LGBT literary categories as determined by over 90 judges. The Lammys bring together over 450 attendees, sponsors and celebrities to celebrate excellence in LGBT literature, making it the most glamorous and prestigious LGBT literary event in the world. The awards will be hosted for the fourth year in a row by comedienne Kate Clinton on Monday, June 1st in New York City at The Great Hall at Cooper Union (7 East 7th St @ 3rd Ave, New York City) with a pre-ceremony reception presented by Penguin Random House. A VIP After-Party presented by Scholastic will immediately follow the ceremony.

Journalist Kevin Sessums recently chatted with HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH creator John Cameron Mitchell about his next project- a sequel to the musical. Sessums writes on his Tumblr: ' He then went on to tell me in detail the narrative of the sequel for which Hedwig's original composer Stephen Trask will write the music once more.'
