The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center announces casting and creative teams for the summer season of new musicals and plays selected for development at the National Music Theater Conference and National Playwrights Conference.

The Public Theater announced casting today for CORIOLANUS, the second show of The Public's 2019 Free Shakespeare in the Park season. Directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan, the war-torn tragedy seen for the first time in 40 years, begins performances on Tuesday, July 16 and runs through Sunday, August 11, with an official press opening on Monday, August 5.

Over the course of each Broadway season, unexpected and unique storylines inevitably pop up. This morning, with the announcement of the 2019 Tony Award nominations, a number of new narratives have come to life.

Trinity Repertory Company announced today that the Indigo Girls will be honored with the 2019 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts in recognition of their artistic achievements and advocacy at the theater's 23rd annual Pell Awards Gala on Monday, June 3, 2019 at the WaterFire Arts Center in Providence, RI. Skylight Theatre Company's production of 'Rotterdam,' opened this weekend at Center Theatre Group at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. Written by Jon Brittain and directed by Michael A. Shepperd, 'Rotterdam' will close April 7.

We The Women Collective's workshop production of Steph Del Rosso's Fill Fill Fill Fill Fill Fill Fill premiered at the Los Angeles Theater Center this past weekend, directed by Kate Bergstrom. The cast included Jennifer Kim (Mozart in the Jungle), Will Greenberg (Wrecked), Chris Candy, Samantha Ressler (This is the End), Nathalie Love (20th Century Woman), Kevin Phillips (Notorious) & Grant Harrison. Musical guests HAIM, Miya Folick and Jessica Tonder performed over the weekend, HAIM performing on opening night. 100 of the tickets per show were allocated to Planned Parenthood Peer Advocate Students as well as other students groups like Meet Bridget & IDSA. 

For one night only, Tony Award-winner Laura Benanti will appear at Long Wharf Theatre in her cabaret show, TALES FROM SOPRANO ISLE featuring songs from her career along with humorous anecdotes and experiences that she has encountered on and off the stage and screen. The presenting sponsor for the gala event is KeyBank.

Last night, Colin Quinn celebrated the opening of his new Off-Broadway show Colin Quinn: Red State Blue State. Colin Quinn: Red State Blue Stateis directed by Bobby Moresco and produced by Audible, Mike Lavoie, Carlee Briglia and Brian Stern.

The San Diego Theatre Critics Circle has announced the nominations for its 2018 Craig Noel Awards. Now in its 17th year, the Craig Noel Awards honor the achievements of professional theaters in San Diego County. The nominees are chosen by a nine-member body of professional critics who write for San Diego newspapers, magazines, online publications and blogs.

Secret Identity a brand new play by playwright Chris Weikel will debut it's World Premiere at The Flea Theatre on January 9th. The story tackles high school bullying in a witty and provocative way when the protagonist escapes into his comic book world of Super Heroes before learning that being authentic is key to acceptance. Secret Identity bows in previews on January 9th with Opening Night on January 12th.
