Things can get a little crazy backstage in a long-running show. And I can say with confidence that we have gone round the bend at the Longacre. This latest #ImASycamore post is about just that. Somewhere in the middle of act two, we discovered that some fresh produce had been brought in by stage management. So Flynn Earl Jones and Austin Durant decided to put it to use. Enjoy!

The latest #ImASycamore short film is, admittedly, my most personal. I, too, have a secret that makes me eligible for membership in the Sycamore family. I won't bother to explain… My silence speaks volumes. Enjoy!

BWW Blog: Karl Kenzler of YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU - Serenading Rose
by Guest Blogger: Karl Kenzler - Jan 29, 2015

Doing a big play like YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU is a lot like doing a musical. Large choreographed sections, lots of entrances and exits - we even have dance numbers and xylophone solos. So, it shouldn't surprise you that our cast loves to sing! Just last week, stage management had to scold us in the middle of act two. Apparently, our impromptu greenroom rendition of Funkytown was so loud it could be heard stage right. The exact quote was, "Seriously, guys, I love you. But it's just too loud." Anyway, I hope you enjoy this short film in which the cast serenades Rose Byrne with our arrangement of the Hall & Oates classic, Sara Smile.

Julie Halston stops the show with her inspired drunkwalk in Act Two of YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU. But she has greater aspirations than simply comedy. As the result of a lifelong obsession that dates back to her childhood, Julie is doing her part to keep New Yorkers safe. Check it out! And don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

Hey, friends! We're winding down over at the Longacre as we settle into our last few weeks of the run. Closing a show is always bittersweet. Excitement about what lies ahead, but always a little sadness saying goodbye. So these short films are a nice reminder of the fun we have.

BWW Blog: Karl Kenzler of YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU - Will Brill's Secret Skill
by Guest Blogger: Karl Kenzler - Jan 23, 2015

Actors have a lot of hidden talents. Angelina Jolie is a knife-thrower. Steve Martin plays the banjo. And Colin Farrell is a tremendously skilled Irish step dancer. True story. But that's nothing compared to our cast at the Longacre Theatre. In fact our own Will Brill plays "Ed Carmichael" in YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU and he has a secret skill that qualifies him as a member of the Sycamore family. Check it out! It's magical!

An actor's life is extremely glamorous and follows a grand tradition. The Longacre Theatre is a historic landmark, dating all the way back to it's first production in 1913. Consequently, it's a bit of an archeological site.
