2026 YMCG Kicks Off in China

The 2026 Youth Music Culture the Greater Bay Area (YMCG) event began today in Guangzhou, featuring performances and masterclasses across multiple cities until February 12. Directed by Daniel Harding, the festival showcases global young talent and promotes cultural exchange.

Review: Strauss’s ARABELLA Has the Music and the Singers—and Old Vienna—at the Met

For all those operagoers tired of classics set in rodeos, Las Vegas or on a space station (Paris has a BOHEME of that ilk), Otto Schenk’s production for ARABELLA, with stage design by Gunther Schneider Siemssen, dating back to 1983, will be a relief. It features a return to “old Vienna,” including an Act II ballroom scene that’s as welcoming as a sacher torte.

ARABELLA Opens at the Metropolitan Opera In November

The Metropolitan Opera will open a revival of Richard Strauss’s Arabella on November 10, 2025, marking soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen’s role debut in the title part and Tomasz Konieczny’s Met role debut as Mandryka.

Interview: Christine Goerke Talks Boston Lyric Opera and Boston Symphony Orchestra Collaboration on DIE TOTE STADT

Goerke will be doing just that in “Die Tote Stadt” (“The Dead City”) – composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s poignant opera about the struggle with haunting memories of a lost loved one, that captures the final chapter of the Romantic era – which will be presented by the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in collaboration with Boston Lyric Opera (BLO) on January 30 and February 1 at Symphony Hall.

This February, the Boston Symphony Orchestra welcomes two young superstar soloists who will make their BSO debuts: Randall Goosby playing Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 with BSO Music Director Andris Nelsons (Feb. 2 & 3) and Yunchan Lim performing Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 with guest conductor Tugan Sokhiev (Feb. 15–18). ==
