New York's cabaret community just came together to celebrate the legacy of its late great impresario Donald F. Smith in a free public concert. Donald F. Smith, Executive Director and Founder of The Mabel Mercer Foundation, passed away in March, 2012. He created the New York Cabaret Convention 27 years ago. For many years it was held at Town Hall, a building he was instrumental in preserving as a New York City landmark.

Marco Gomez directs, Dolf Ramos is musical director and Angela Todaro choreographs. The cast is comprised of four singers: Andrea Arvanigian, Malek Hanna, Mookie Johnson and Joanne O'Brien.
Broadway composer Jason Robert Brown has just announced in his blog the release of two seperate sheet music book and accompaniment CD sets of his music. He writes: 'My editor at Hal Leonard, the estimable Rick Walters, called me in 2010 with the idea that we should do a book-and-CD folio of me playing accompaniments to my own songs, with a male and female edition. I thought it was a fantastic idea, and now it's finally out in the world!' The Female edition and Male edition are both available on Amazon.com, as well as iTunes and Sheet Music Direct.

During the ten days in 1974 when the original production of Ionescopade ran Off-Broadway, lovers of musical theatre were lining up at box offices to see stars like Carol Channing in Lorelei, Debbie Reynolds in Irene, and Patty and Maxene Andrews in Over Here! Younger playgoers were discovering themselves with Pippin and rocking out to Grease, while those who go for intellectual snob hits had their choice of the revival of Candide or the new Sondheim/Prince romance A Little Night Music. Those venturing to Off-Broadway were still flocking to that fresh new musical, The Fantasticks, then in only its fifteenth year.

White was honored with a Special Award for her Contributions to New York Nightlife. As is always the case with The All-Performance Nightlife Awards, Terri took the stage to sing. Also returning to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Nightlife Awards by performing were two former Nightlife Jazz Vocalist winners, Allan Harris and Karen Oberlin.

Chris Durang launched a comic nightclub act in 1989 called CHRIS DURANG & DAWNE (John Augustine and Sherry Anderson) that came back to play clubs all over the New York area for the next eight years until they made their last public performance in January of 1996.

Heralded TV and nightclub comedian, RAY ELLIN, is on tap to perform on Monday night, as are two former Nightlife Jazz Award winners Vocalist winners, ALLAN HARRIS and KAREN OBERLIN.
