New York's Public Theater (Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director) and Joey Parnes have announced that the final performances of HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical on Broadway will all offer special deals and programs for students, Aquarians, foreigners, HAIR fans and more, kicking off on Thursday, August 25th with a foursquare Swarm-In in Times Square, at which fans are encouraged to join the Tribe for a Be-In Performance in Times Square, where they can unlock a special discount if enough people check in via the social networking site foursquare. The show ends its 'Summer of Love' run at the St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street) on Saturday, September 10th before heading back out on its national tour.

On Saturday, July 9, 2011, Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters hosted the 13th annual BROADWAY BARKS!, a star-studded dog and cat adopt-a-thon benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. The event, produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is sponsored by official charity partners, the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), Newman's Own® Organics: The Second Generation®, with additional sponsorship by the New York Times.
