Asia Society, PEN World Voices Festival and Performance Space 122 present the New York City premiere of 33 RPM and a Few Seconds, a brave new work by Lebanese theater artists Rabih Mroue and Lina Saneh, as part of the 10th Annual PEN World Voices Festival. A multi-media theater performance devoid of actors, 33 RPM and a Few Seconds reconstructs the final moments of a life after the suicide of a young Lebanese man.

The Music Academy of the West will inaugurate an unprecedented partnership with the world-renowned New York Philharmonic and present a new production of Georges Bizet's popular opera Carmen in honor of Marilyn Horne's 80th birthday as part of the Academy's 67th annual Summer Festival. The Music Academy will present some 200 events over the course of its coming season, which begins June 16 and concludes August 9.

Red Hen Press is pleased to announce the winners of its 2013 awards series. The Benjamin Saltman Poetry Award, theRHP Short Story Award, and the RHP Poetry Award are given each year for, respectively, an unpublished original poetry collection, short story, and individual poem. Together with the A Room of Her Own Foundation, Red Hen Press also awards the To the Lighthouse Poetry Publication Prize to a female author of an unpublished original poetry collection. Last year, Red Hen Press and The Los Angeles Review held the first annual Wild Light Poetry Contest for an original poem. All winners receive publication and an honorarium.

Silver Spring Stage presents The Pillowman by Martin McDonagh, directed by Craig Mummey and produced by Pauline Griller-Mitchell and Amy Sullivan, an engrossing and provocative drama that centers on a writer in an unnamed totalitarian state who is being interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories and their similarities to a series of child murders. With dark echoes of the Grimm tales, this is an unflinching examination of the very nature and purpose of art. The Pillowman will perform weekends November 1 to 23.
