Monday, April 9th marked the first edition of the SWAP (Songs With Another Perspective) Cabaret, produced and directed by Alex Beck. Twenty-two artists sang gender-swapped songs from 100 years of the musical theatre cannon.

SWAP (Songs With Another Perspective), the newest gender-swapping cabaret, holds up a quirky magnifying glass to some of the more stereotypical, problematic, and oddly curious gender moments in the American musical theatre cannon.

It is always a thrill when you discover a hidden gem in your own backyard. This was the experience I had last night attending my first show by the Connecticut Theatre Company in New Britain, Connecticut. It is appropriate that my first review for this company would be for RAGTIME, the Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty musical (with book by Terrence McNally) that includes a variety of themes including a focus on new experiences, changes in perspective, and listening to new music . I am thrilled to report that CTC's RAGTIME is a powerful and high-quality telling of the classic E.L. Doctorow tale. It hits all the right notes (literally and figuratively) and may be one of the best ensemble casts I have seen on a community theatre stage in Connecticut.

A special 50th anniversary production of the classic film, Disney's The Happiest Millionaire, benefited Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS in two performances at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street) last Sunday, December 3rd. BroadwayWorld has photos from the show below!

TV and theater favorite Brooke Shields will join the cast of the one-night-only benefit performance of Disney's The Happiest Millionaire, it was announced today.

Tony Award Winner and three-time nominee, Tonya Pinkins (Caroline, or Change, Play On!, Jelly's Last Jam) joins the cast of Disney's The Happiest Millionaire, celebrating its 50th anniversary in a concert that will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Inspired by some of the theatre's greatest hits and set to pop music, the evening brought Broadway style to classic striptease. Renowned Danish guitarist Jens Bang-Rasmussen will make his New York recital debut on Tuesday evening, April 11 at Weill Recital Hall. This wide-ranging program traces a Nordic historical thread, from Renaissance composer John Dowland-who, though English by birth, served at the court Christian IV of Denmark-to the world premiere of Suite for Guitar by Danish composer Kim Helweg, written specially for this event.

Stars are born on Broadway and at Feinstein's/54 Below with startling regularity. With her astonishing rendition of the classic, A Star is Born, Molly Pope provided a never to be forgotten evening of songs from the classic film last night and BroadwayWorld was there.
