Horse Trade to Present Spookfish Theatre's THE ABC'S GUIDE TO GETTING FAMOUS, 1/16-19

Horse Trade Theater Group will present Spookfish Theatre Company's critically acclaimed theatrical documentary, The ABC's Guide to Getting Famous written by Ming Peiffer, directed by Kat Yen, and featuring Sai Samboon (Sleep No More). The show will play The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery) for a limited engagement, Thursday, December 16, Friday, December 17, Saturday, December 18, and Sunday, December 19 at 8pm. Sheldon Bull to Receive Abingdon's Christopher Brian Wolk Award, 12/16

Abingdon Theatre Company, in an ongoing effort to recognize excellence in playwriting, established the Christopher Brian Wolk Award to be presented annually to an American writer of a full-length play not produced in New York City. The award is based upon the writer's demonstrated ability to reach a mature artistic vision using theatre. Playwright Sheldon Bull will receive the $1,000 cash award and a staged reading of his script MALLORCA, directed by Donald Brenner (GREAT EXPECTATIONS), at the award ceremony, December 16, starting at 7:00PM in the June Havoc Theatre, 312 West 36th Street in Manhattan.

DARK WATER to Explore the Effects of An Oil Spill with Manhattan Theatre Works, 3/14-29

MANHATTAN THEATRE WORKS (MTWorks), in association with the Theater Series at the 14th Street Y, is pleased to announce the world premiere of MTWorks Co-Artistic Director David Stallings' DARK WATER, directed by Heather Cohn. DARK WATER, a play about the ramifications of the Gulf oil spill, will play a three week engagement at The Theater at the 14th Street Y (344 East 14th Street at 1st Avenue). BKBX Presents AT FIRST SIGHT (AND OTHER STORIES) at Dixon Place Tonight

At First Sight (and Other Stories) is a 90-minute compilation of some of their most celebrated works mixed with vignettes created especially for this production - written, directed, and featuring the company of BKBX- each piece designed to take the audience on a journey from epic fantasy adventure to the intimate and very real moments of everyday life. Weaving comedy and drama through the show's fabric, At First Sight (and Other Stories) will entertain as well as enlighten. The show runs Todays - Saturdays: November 7 - 9, 14 - 16, and 21 - 23 @ 7:30 p.m. Matinees: November 9, 16, and 23 @ 2:00 p.m.

Polly Lee Stars in Abingdon Theatre's FIX ME, JESUS, Beg. Tonight

Abingdon Theatre Company-which has produced 81 new American plays since 1993-launches its 21st Season with FIX ME, JESUS, a world-premiere play by Helen Sneed, with previews set to begin tonight, November 1, prior to an official press opening November 10 in Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex's Dorothy Streslin Theatre (312 West 36th Street). Performances run through November 24.

Carolyn Quinn Pens Rose Thompson Hovick Biography MAMA ROSE'S TURN

Hers is the show business saga you think you already know-but you ain't seen nothin' yet. Rose Thompson Hovick, mother of June Havoc and Gypsy Rose Lee, went down in theatrical history as 'The Stage Mother from Hell' after her immortalization on Broadway in Gypsy: A Musical Fable. Yet the musical was 75 percent fictionalized by playwright Arthur Laurents and condensed for the stage. Rose's full story is even more striking.

Shirley Herz Memorial Set for Samuel J Friedman Theatre, 11/4
