The Armenian Dramatic Arts Alliance (ADAA) announced the winner of the $10,000 Saroyan/Paul Human Rights Playwriting Prize on April 24th, 2017 at the The Antaeus Theatre Company at the newly opened Kiki and David Gindler Performing Arts Centre in Glendale.

Now celebrating its 25th Anniversary, The Blank Theatre's Nationwide Young Playwrights Festival has chosen 12 plays by playwrights aged 17, 18, and 19 from six different states and the District of Columbia. These plays will be presented by professional actors and directors in this year's Festival at The Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood, June 1-25.

'Failure: A Love Story' chronicles the lives, loves and deaths of the three Fail sisters (June Carryl, Margaret Katch, and Nicole Shalhoub) and the one man with the double moniker Mortimer Mortimer (Kurt Quinn) who fell in love with each of them but not at the same time. Set against the backdrop of 1920s Chicago, this touching, whimsical tale explores the impermanence of life and the permanence of love, especially among devoted family members. The 'failure' in the title refers to poor Mortimer's inability to ever marry any of the three sisters after falling in love with them, as the untimely deaths of the three sisters happen before any marriages can take place.

Celebration Theatre presents under the artistic direction of Michael Matthews & Michael A. Shepperd, the third and final show in its 2016-2017 season, CABARET, book by Joe Masteroff  (based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood), music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, choreography by Janet Roston, musical direction by Anthony Zediker and directed by Michael Matthews.  CABARET will begin previews on Friday, May 26 at 8pm; will open on Friday, June 2 at 8pm and perform through Sunday, July 2 at Celebration Theatre @ the Lex Theatre, 6760 Lexington Ave. in Los Angeles.

Center Theatre Group's Block Party begins with the opening of the Coeurage Theatre Company production of "Failure: A Love Story" this Sunday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m. Written by Philip Dawkins and directed by Michael Matthews, "Failure: A Love Story" will run through April 23, 2017, with 11 performances only.

Casting is finalized for three local productions being presented as part of Center Theatre Group's inaugural Block Party: Celebrating Los Angeles Theatre.

In one of the first festivals of its kind, a panel of Broadway Producers and Emmy winning writers has compiled its final list of performances for the upcoming New York New Works Theatre Festival (August 29th - October 5).

2Cents's Acting Out INK Fest is back for its 3rd exciting year!!! We are once again gathering over 100 artists for this 3-day event, from playwrights to directors to actors and street artists, to celebrate the FEMALE PLAYWRIGHT and ART! The Fest will kickoff beginning on Friday April 15 at 1pm at the Hudson Theatres in Hollywood, right in the heart of Theatre Row and the LA 99-seat community.

In director Damaso Rodriguez's version of ROMEO AND JULIET, a group of actors gathers to put on the play in a graffiti-covered alley. A pair of dumpsters, two wooden pallets, and a movable iron ladder makes up the bulk of the set pieces. Everything is covered in spray paint and decay.

Couerage Theatre Company mounts a fine-tuned production of Failure: A Love Story, playwright Philip Dawkins' fresh, unique take on a ill-fated family in the early 1900s. Michael Matthews smoothly directs and inventively stages his large talented, triple-threat cast as they sing, dance and act out this saga of the Failure family, with seemingly more deaths than the Kennedy clan has endured.

Coeurage Theatre Company, LA's 'Pay What You Want' Company, has announced the third production of its 2015 season, the Los Angeles premiere of Failure: A Love Story by Philip Dawkins. Directed by Ovation Award-winner Michael Matthews, there will be three preview performances on July 18, 22, and 23 at 8pm and opening is set for Friday, July 24 at 8pm. Failure: A Love Story will play through August 29 at GTC Burbank. 

A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, presents the final weeks of its 2015 Spring repertory season with The Threepenny Opera, Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill's groundbreaking theatrical work in Michael Feingold's translation (which has become the most popular production in the history of A Noise Within), now playing through May 27, the Los Angeles Times Critic's Choice Figaro by Charles Morey, freely adapted from Le Mariage de Figaro by Beaumarchais in its West Coast premiere now through May 10, and the Ovation-Recommended Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, in its final extension through May 24.
