Food has many uses, one of which is communicating an emotion. It can even hold a memory. These themes surrounding the emotional resonance of food is the overarching raison d'être for playwright Julia Cho's 2016 play AUBERGINE, which continues performances at Orange County's South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa through November 16, 2019. In her introspective, cautiously-paced play, food is used as a means for bonding and connection---because standard communication by other methods doesn't seem to be as effective in conveying one's feelings.

East West Players Announces October Special Events Series

Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios, has acquired North American digital rights for REACH, the high-school drama about bullying from the perspective of the bully, the bullied, and the bystanders. REACH will debut on VOD and will be available to rent and own on digital HD across North American cable, internet, and satellite platforms through Freestyle Digital Media on October 19, 2018. Christian Meoli's Voltaire Media will theatrically release REACH in 10 major markets, day and date, including his Los Angeles theatre Arena Cinelounge, in Hollywood.

An ENCHANTED Family Tale Comes To Burbank

Garry Marshall Theatre's marshallARTS family series premieres with a new spin on a classic tale The Enchanted Nightingale. Written by Artistic Director Joseph Leo Bwarie and Lori Marshall (co-author Wake Me When It's Funny, My Happy Days in Hollywood) and directed by Fran de Leon (Center Theatre Group, South Coast Repertory, Criminal Minds), this uplifting story will charm children and adults alike in a limited run, January 12 through March 18 at the magical hour of 11am on Saturdays and Sundays, with select 7pm Friday performances.

Los Angeles play development lab Fierce Backbone joins forces with Drive Theatre to launch audiences into a murder mystery on a mission to Mars. Amy Tofte's futuristic dramedy WOMEN OF 4G launched on May 19 for a four-week run and is now extended through June 17.
