Director Joshua Warr, who has two plays in rep this October at 13th St. Theatre, drops in to chat with Valerie about his company, Art of Warr Productions and the two shows, Stupid Fxxking Bird, by Aaron Posner and Pizza Man by Darlene Carviotto, which will run from Oct. 3rd through 27th.

Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman to Be Honored at School Theatre Benefit

The Educational Theatre Foundation (ETF) will honor Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman with the Broadway Back to School Award, which recognizes the impact of key leaders in the theatrical industry and education in building access and excellence in school theatre. Shaiman and Wittman were among the first creative leaders in the theatrical industry to recognize that the involvement of young students in musical theatre was essential for their success in school and life as well as for the progress and growth of the industry. 

Broadway's TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD Treats D.C. Area Thespians To A Preview

The cast of the Broadway production of To Kill a Mockingbird presented 400 middle and high school students with a special performance at the Library of Congress on Tuesday to celebrate the culmination of Theatre in Our Schools Month, which is held annually in March. The students, from schools in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, are members of the International Thespian Society, the honor society for drama students.

Grants To Aid Theatre Programs In California Schools Impacted By Wildfires

The Educational Theatre Foundation is pleased to announce that high schools and middle schools in California that suffered damage to their theatre programs from the wildfires that plagued the state in 2018 are eligible to apply for a grant funded by licensing agency Music Theatre International (MTI).

NBC Gets 'Standing Ovation' From National Educational Theatre Association

NBC Entertainment has received the Standing Ovation Award from the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA). The award recognizes a corporation or organization that makes significant contributions to EdTA in supporting its mission of "shaping lives through theatre education" through philanthropic efforts, programs, and activities.

Winners of R.I.S.E. America Grants For School Theatre Programs Announced

 Fifty high schools have risen above 1,000 applicants to claim NBC's R.I.S.E. America grants. The program – inspired by the network's upcoming drama “Rise” about a high school theatre department and its effects on a small town – is awarding half million dollars to high school theatre programs across the country.
