Lisa Lampanelli has joined Cause Célèbre Productions as associate producer for the world premiere of THE PEOPLE VERSUS LENNY BRUCE, a play by Susan Charlotte directed by Antony Marsellis at Theatre Row in New York.

Emmy Award-winning comedic legend Jon Cryer will return to his theater roots and join the cast as Vice Principal Douglas Panch in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

The full cast has been revealed for the world premiere of “The People Versus Lenny Bruce” a play by Susan Charlotte, based on the legal case of legendary lawyer Martin Garbus, Off-Broadway this spring.

Cause Célèbre Productions in association with The Writers Guild of America East and The New York Society For Ethical Culture will present a staged reading of “The People Versus Lenny Bruce” a play by Susan Charlotte.

Laguna Playhouse will present the final show of its 2024/2025 season, the boot-scootin’, foot-stompin’, dancin’ in the aisles, country music party of the year, Honky Tonk Angels, written by Ted Swindley, choreography by Jill Gorrie, musical direction by John Massey and direction by David Ellenstein.

The Dramatists Guild of America has announced that the recipient of its 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award is playwright David Henry Hwang. The award will be presented at the Guild’s annual awards ceremony on Monday, April 28. 

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that Jules Feiffer, the cartoonist and playwright, has passed away at 95 from congestive heart failure. He is survived by his wife JZ Holden.

The People vs. Lenny Bruce is the third segment of 'All The Court's A Stage,' a series of plays that are based on seven of Martin Garbus‘ cases. With a dramatic adaptation by Susan Charlotte from the 1964 obscenity case, and directed by Antony Marsellis, it will make its Los Angeles premiere at Garry Marshall Theatre July 21st and 22nd.

Jeanine Tesori and Bess Wohl have joined The Dramatists Guild Council, the leadership team of the Guild.

The Dramatists Guild previously announced that playwright Christopher Durang will receive a Lifetime Achievement award at this year’s ceremony. He will be joined by two additional recipients, George C. Wolfe and Emily Mann.
