Nancy Manocherian's the cell presents the Off-Broadway Premiere of BASTARD JONES, a rock musical comedy based on Henry Fielding's bawdy 18th-century novel, The History of Tom Jones. With book, lyrics, & direction by Marc Acito (Broadway's Allegiance) and music & lyrics by Amy Engelhardt (Grammy nominees The Bobs), performances began June 14 at the cell. 'Crazy For You,' now playing at the Theatre In The Park in Shawnee Mission Park, is the theatrical equivalent of the 'Little Engine That Could.' It represents the fifth generation of musical shows based on George and Ira Gershwin's 1930 'Girl Crazy' score. Even though the original version kicked off the careers of Ethel Merman and Ginger Rogers, none of these shows remotely resembles any of its siblings.
Chicago's Landmark Avalon Regal Theater Goes Hologram

Hologram USA Networks Inc. today announced a partnership with Chicago's historic Avalon Regal Theater to install its patented hologram technology on a permanent basis, allowing live artists to be "beamed" in by telepresence, and for performances by Hologram USA's recreated stars from the past. The Avalon Regal and the Hologram USA theater in Los Angeles, will be the first full time dedicated hologram theaters in the United States, and their launch kicks off a campaign to build and install 100 theaters nationwide. The network of theaters will be supported by Hologram USA Networks and the FilmOn TV and FOTV Media Group.

WaterTower Theatre Artistic Director Joanie Schultz today announced casting and creative team details for the Regional Premiere of Hit the Wall by multi-award-winning playwright Ike Holter. Hit the Wall will be directed by Joanie Schultz, and marks her WTT directorial inauguration. Hit the Wall will run July 28th - August 20th, 2017, in the Canterbury Family Main Stage at the Addison Theatre Centre. The cast features Kelsey Leigh Ervi as Peg, Joshua Gonzales as Tano, Walter Lee as Carson, Gregory Lush as Cop, Camille Monae as Roberta, Stephen Rosenberger as Newbie, Rashaun Sibley as Mika, Garret Storms as Cliff, Jacie Hood Wenzel as Madeline, and Brandon Whitlock as A-Gay.
