Thinking Cap Theatre at The Vanguard is excited to present SUMMER SERENADE, a ONE NIGHT ONLY engagement featuring music of the 1930s, 40s, and 50s, performed by four of South Florida's finest musical artists. The two-act concert will run 90-minutes with a 10-minute intermission.

About the Vocalists: Ann Marie Olson wowed audiences in 2015 when she portrayed Patsy Cline in Thinking Cap's inaugural production at The Vanguard, Ted Swindley's ALWAYS..PATSY CLINE. Olson's performance earned her a NEW TIMES Best Actress Award and a Carbonell nomination for Best Actress in a Play. A frequent collaborator with Thinking Cap, Olson will also appear in Thinking Cap's October rock musical, LIZZIE, about the infamous Lizzie Borden. Local solo artist Patrick Watkins, who will serve as musical director of LIZZIE, will make his Thinking Cap debut in SUMMER SERENADE.

About the Accompanists: Pianist Billy MacCumber boasts a long and star-studded history as musician. In the late 1950s, Billy was hired by the legendary Louis Prima to join Louis and Keely Smith to perform in Las Vegas. MacCumber spent the next several years recording under the Capitol Records label with Prima and Smith. Some of their hits include "Just A Gigolo," "Jump, Jive an' Wail" (Prima called Billy "Willy the Wailer") and "That Old Black Magic," which won a Grammy. Many of the songs they recorded together were used in movies and became international favorites. After working with Prima, Billy free-lanced, performing at a range of venues around the country, including playing for Judy Garland in Concert and at Mary Tyler Moore's wedding.

Formerly from Chicago where he served for decades as Concertmaster at several prestigious organizations, including Michigan Chamber Orchestra and Chicago Chamber Orchestra, violinist Randy Bella is a true virtuoso on the strings. He has also performed as Concertmaster for national tours of Phantom of the Opera and Music of the Night.

THE VANGUARD BAR HAS BEEN UPGRADED: Guests of SUMMER SERENADE can also look forward to experiencing The Vanguard's newly renovated and upgraded lobby bar. The Vanguard will now offer a more extensive beverage menu, including wine on tap and by the bottle, craft beer, Jones Soda, Nespresso coffee, new snacks, and more.
