The U.S. Presidential Scholars award—one of the nation's highest honors for high school students who exemplify academic excellence, leadership qualities and community service—is presented on behalf of the President of the United States and honors up to 161 graduating high school seniors of high potential each year. Students who would like to be considered for U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts must be YoungArts award winners. Applications for the 2023 YoungArts competition will open on June 7, 2022 at youngarts.org/competition.

San Jose Jazz Summer Fest 2022 is thrilled to officially announce today its initial round of confirmed artists including CeeLo Green; Ledisi; Judith Hill; Javon Jackson's 'Charlie Parker at 100,' Ft. Gary Bartz, Charles McPherson & Donald Harrison; The Brubeck Brothers; Telmary & Friends; Joel Ross; Takuya Kuroda Quintet; and more.

New Jersey Youth Symphony member Ryoma Takenaga of New Providence, NJ from the Academy for Information Technology, has received a 2022 YoungArts award in Jazz. Takenaga has been recognized at the Honorable Mention level, the organization's second highest honor.

This year’s A Bowie Celebration will also celebrate the 35th anniversary of Labyrinth, the classic fantasy film and Jim Henson/David Bowie collaboration, with a special performance from actress Evan Rachel Wood, and an appearance by Brian Henson.

It’s Holiday time in New York City and theater and cabaret are returning. However, one of the legendary venues and it’s main attraction for the Christmas/New Years entertainment tradition is missing. Cafe Carlyle and Steve Tyrell. Since 2005 Steve has been a fixture in the Cafe at this time of year but Cafe Carlyle has not re-opened yet so Steve made a brief one night stop over during his current tour to entertain his legions of fans at SONY Hall last night. 

Singer-songwriter Judith Hill won a Grammy as a backup singer, but she will showcase her individual artistry when she performs in Kean Stage's summer concert series on the Lawn at Enlow Hall on July 31.

You could say Michael Mayo has music in his bones. The son of two musicians — his dad played sax for Earth, Wind & Fire and his mom sings with Diana Ross — Mayo, who just released his own debut album, will perform Saturday, July 24 at 6:30pm at the Lawn at Enlow Hall on Kean University's East Campus.

Live music onstage has returned to Kean University, with a Kean Stage outdoor concert July 17 at 6:30 p.m. by Grammy-winning jazz guitarist John Scofield and the John Scofield Trio featuring Vicente Archer & Bill Stewart on the Lawn at Enlow Hall.

All YoungArts award winners will receive financial awards of up to $10,000, opportunities to work with leading artists and will become eligible for exclusive creative and professional development support throughout their careers.
