The Milburn Stone Theatre held its annual launch party to announce the schedule for the 2019 season. More than 100 members of the public attended the introduction performance where they were able to rub elbows with the actors.

The Broadway Education Alliance just announced that The Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance will be held on Saturday, May 19 at Pearl Studios in Manhattan. This program is open to high schools located in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island, Orange and Rockland Counties, and Westchester. To be eligible, high schools must present an officially licensed production of a Broadway musical during the 2017- 2018 academic year. The Roger Rees Awards has accepted 29 schools, whose students will compete for the title of Best Actor and Best Actress. Winners of the Roger Rees Award will represent the Greater New York region at The Broadway League Foundation's Jimmy® Awards (also known as the National High School Musical Theatre Awards) in June.

It has been announced that Samantha Pauly will star as Eva Peron in Broadway Method Academy's production of Evita at Westport Country Playhouse Feb 7-10

So what happens now for Hal Prince's international tour of Evita? Broadway- according to a recent interview with the Straits Times. The production, which opened in Johannesburg, South Africa last fall, and which was reviewed by BroadwayWorld during its Cape Town stop last month, is on its way to play Singapore, Australia and Japan, before bringing the Rainbow tour home to Broadway.

Directed by Connor Deane with choreography by Eric Santagata and music direction by J. Scott Handley, performances are scheduled for February 7 to 10, 2018. The cast will be headed by Alaina Mills as Eva Peron, Yurel Echezarreta as Che, Kyle Barisch as Juan Peron, and Julian Alvarez as Magaldi.

Asolo Rep presents Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Tony Award-winning masterpiece EVITA. Directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes (Broadway: Bright Star, It Shoulda Been You, Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, First Date; West End: Carousel, Sweeney Todd; Asolo Rep: Guys and Dolls), the musical opens tomorrow, November 18, and runs through December 30 in the Mertz Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts. With the first stop in Johannesburg drawing to a close next week, the international tour of EVITA is ready to transfer to Cape Town, where it will play the Artscape Opera House throughout December and into 2018 until 7 January.
