La MaMa Presents Nia O. Witherspoon's MESSIAH

La MaMa presents the world premiere of Messiah, a new play written and directed by Nia O. Witherspoon. Messiahis a play about the legacy of the Panthers in the age of crack, where a scratch at a DJ booth incites a replay of the past, an action that interrogates generations of violence on black, queer bodies.

Lee Mead's MY STORY Will Tour the UK

Lee Mead, currently starring in BBC One's Holby City, will embark on a theatre tour in 2019 with Lee Mead - My Story. Produced by Total Productions, Lee Mead - My Story will be a 'stripped down' show that will combine conversation and music and see Lee reflect on his life and career. Audiences will have the chance to listen to Lee chat about the magical moments, the highs the lows, the memories of his life and of course performances of the songs that mean so much to him and his fans and have put him centre stage.

Andrew Park Foundation Composition Prize Winners Appear in Concert Dec. 16

The Andrew Park Foundation has named composers June Young Kim (South Korea) and Joseph Lee (USA) prize winners in the Foundation's first annual Andrew Park Composition Prize. Messrs. Kim and Lee will each receive a cash prize valued at $1,500 and will have their new works premiered at New York's Merkin Concert Hall on Sunday, December 16, 2018, 3 p.m.

Comedian-actor Zainab Johnson (“Late Night with Seth Meyers,” HBO's “All Def Comedy”) is set to host the finale screening and awards ceremony of the 13th Annual NBCUniversal SHORT FILM FESTIVAL on October 24, 2018 at the Directors Guild of America in Hollywood. The festival which is part of the network's talent infusion programs (NBC TIPS) celebrates diverse stories while finding the next generation of storytellers. Festival alumni include Steven Caple Jr. (“Creed 2”), Hasan Minhaj (“The Daily Show”), Randall Park (“Fresh Off the Boat”) and Simone Missick (“Luke Cage”).
