Matthew Paul Olmos' 'so go the ghosts of mexico, part one' -- selected by Sam Shepard as the inaugural play to be presented under the auspices of the first-ever Ellen Stewart Award -- will be given its world-premiere production by La MaMa (74 E. 4 St.) with preview performances starting April 11 prior to its official press opening on April 14, it has been announced by La MaMa artistic director Mia Yoo.

American Lyric Theater continues its popular series of public libretto readings, The Living Libretto, at the National Opera Center beginning November 11, 2012. Featuring guest actors from the Broadway and off-Broadway stage, each event is the culminating reading of extensive libretto workshops conducted for new operas currently being written by ALT Resident Artists.

American Lyric Theater's popular series of public libretto readings, The Living Libretto, continues this season at the new National Opera Center. Next up is LA REINA, with Libretto by Laura Sosa Pedroza; Music by Jorge Sosa and Commissioned by American Lyric Theater. The reading will be directed by Debbie Saivetz and feature Zabryna Guevara, Ed Trucco, Teresa Yenque, Audrey Esparza, Jose Joaquin Perez, Alfredo Huereca, Gerardo Rodrigez, Gerardo Gudino, Antonio Vega, Gabriel Gutierrez, and Israel Hernandez.
