Live Nation Nearing a Deal to Sell Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre

The Foxwoods Theatre, currently home to Broadway's SPIDER-MAN Turn Off the Dark, has gone by many names over the past few years- originally changing from the Ford Center for the Performing Arts in 2005, and then from the Hilton Theatre in 2010. The venue is about to go through another change as Live Nation, the current owner, is 'close to a deal to sell,' according to the New York Post.

5th Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition Will Take Place 5/6

Jujamcyn Theaters (Jordan Roth, President) and True Colors Theatre Company (Kenny Leon, Co-Founding Artistic Director) have announced the 5th Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition will take place on Monday, May 6th at 7:00 p.m. at the August Wilson Theatre (245 West 52nd Street). The event, which is free and open to the public, features high school students from Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Pittsburgh and Seattle performing monologues by the late, legendary American playwright.

The City of New York has honored Grammy Award-winning superstar (and Brooklyn native) Barry Manilow with his very own street. In a ceremony performed earlier today, Todd Asher, Deputy Commissioner of the New York City Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (and self-professed 'Fanilow'), unveiled a new street sign dubbing the West 44th Street at 7th Avenue 'MANILOW WAY.' The corner is mere steps from the St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street) where Manilow began a special Broadway concert series, Manilow on Broadway, last Friday, January 18. Jordan Roth Becomes Principal Owner of Jujamcyn Theaters

According to Variety, the President of Jujamcyn Theaters Jordan Roth has become the company's principal owner after making a tranaction with previous co-owner Rocco Landesman. Roth, who is 37, is now the youngest owner of one of the major Broadway operators.
