World-renowned maestro and violinist Itzhak Perlman will headline a concert and gala celebrating National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's 100th anniversary and honoring legendary financier and philanthropist Sanford I. Weill and Broadway impresario Jordan Roth on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall, 57th Street and Seventh Avenue. NYTF is the longest consecutively-producing Jewish Arts company in the world.
Producer Jordan Roth, President of Jujamcyn Theaters, announced today that William Finn and James Lapine's landmark musical, Falsettos, the theatrical masterpiece that forever reshaped our collective definition of family, will return to Broadway next Spring with an all new production directed by Mr. Lapine. Falsettos premiered on Broadway in 1992 - after its characters first captured the hearts of theatergoers Off Broadway - garnering rave reviews and seven Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, and going onto win for Best Original Score (Finn) and Best Book of a Musical (Lapine and Finn).
When they were still aspiring young artists Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Ayad Akhtar, TV star Josh Radnor, and Tony Award-nominated actress Melissa Erico each spent a transformative summer in the Powerhouse Theater Training Program. Now in its 31st year, the renowned annual program at Vassar College will run from June 19-July 26, 2015 and is currently accepting applications. Participants choose a curriculum focused on acting, playwriting, or directing, and together form a Company, which performs works for the public. The program is available to rising high school seniors through college-age students, as part of the prestigious Powerhouse Theater collaboration between Vassar College and New York Stage and Film.

The completely reimaged revival of Side Show took its much anticipated first bow on Broadway last night, October 28, at the St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). Amongst the crowd for the production's first preview were super-fans of the musical and an array of stars, setting the stage for the kind of excitement normally only seen at opening nights. The American Theatre Wing announced today that its annual gala, held this past Monday evening at the Plaza Hotel, was the most successful in the organization's history, raising over $750,000 (besting the previous record, which was set in 2013, by more than $50,000). All proceeds from the evening will benefit the education and outreach programs of the American Theatre Wing, which include SpringboardNYC, the Theatre Intern Network, the National Theatre Company Grants and the Jonathan Larson Grants, and will also support free access for students, aspiring professionals, and the general public to programming on AmericanTheatreWing.org, including the long running 'Working in the Theatre' media program.

Now, the list is up to 10 theatres, with the Roundabout Theatre Company announcing that its three theatres (The American Airlines, Studio 54 and the Stephen Sondheim Theatre) will dim their lights as well.
