Guest Conductor Richard Egarr to Showcase Mozart and Beethoven in H+H Concert, 2/13-14

Youth is the underlying theme of the Handel and Haydn Society's next series of concerts as it presents the early compositions of two giants of the Classical era, Mozart and Beethoven. In addition, the program will feature the young singers of H+H's Collaborative Youth Concert (CYC) initiative.

BMOP Showcases Work of Hungarian Composers Tonight

Boston, MA (For Release 12.11.14) --- The Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), the nation's premier orchestra dedicated exclusively to commissioning, performing, and recording new orchestral music, presents an evening dedicated to four composers of Hungarian descent – Bálint Karosi (b.1979), Kati Agócs (b.1975), György Ligeti (1923-2006) and Béla Bartók (1881-1945). Complemented by the innovative all-female vocal group Lorelei Ensemble, BMOP performs the world premieres of Karosi's Existentia—in memory of Sándor Weöres (commissioned by BMOP) and Agócs's The Debrecen Passion, as well as Ligeti's Violin Concerto (1990) featuring violinist Gabriela Diaz, and Bartók's Three Village Scenes (1926).

Handel and Haydn Society Receives NEA Award

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Jane Chu announced last week that the Handel and Haydn Society is one of 919 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. H+H is recommended for a $60,000 grant for its performances of Haydn's The Creation in May 2015 as well as educational and community programs that will surround the production.
